I bought Carver MV-5 from Crutchfield 2 years ago. I waited for this unit for well over 3 months to arrive in the market so that I can buy. I have a Carver Power Amp (705x) and Carver Preamp (28v). Bought this unit because of Carver's name in the audio world. This unit started giving me problems after about 14 months (warranty on this product is good for a year). It started malfunctioning and then it stopped working completely with one of my CD's stuck inside. I called Crutchfield and they told me to contact Carver directly. Carver technical support told me that this product has a fundamental problem which is hard to fix it and that Carver no longer makes this product because of its high defect rate. They asked me to ship it back to them. After contacting them for over 2 months to get the status of my player, I was told that Carver is being bought by Sunfire so they are in transition and that I call them after 2-3 weeks. I was also told that its gonna be expensive to fix this machine so they may refund my money or give me a replacement.
No one from Carver ever bothered to call me to tell me the status of my player even though I left messages for them. It was past 4 months and I was so frustrated by now that I contacted the BBB of Seattle to help me out. They asked me to contact Randy Bigham in Sunfire. Randy told me that they will send me a replacement unit HK-FL8300 and no refund, I take it or leave it. This unit arrived and worked for 2 minutes before this lousy unit also stopped working. After 4 months I got a crappy unit that gave me listening pleasure for 2 minutes.
I called Randy again who asked me to ship this HK unit back to him and realizing my frustration mailed me a check of $405 I paid to Crutchfield for MV-5 minus 2 s&h expenses and the money I lost for the CD that got stuck inside the player.
Its needless to say, that Carver MV-5 is a piece of trash costing 400+. I am posting this message for people who are experiencing problems with this unit. I had a terrible time with this player and am no way gonna buy Carver or Sunfire products in my life again.

Good luck to you all MV-5ers!!!
