Weakness:

None so far

I disagree with the reviewer who said that the Cal audio blew it away. I went in to listen to the Cal Audio and was told by the dealer I should check this out as well. We demoed with a Krell integrated amp and Meadowlark kestrel speakers. I told him not to tell me which was which. It was not even close the Arcam in my humble opinion blew the Cal out of the water. It does not have the dryness that other CD players have in the pricepoint. I just bought the piece and the same thing happened right out of the box new verses the Anthem CD-1. I will miss my 6 disc changer but the sound difference is too good to pass up. More involving in every way. Worth the extra bucks as my dealer said there is nothing close until you get to 3k. I know I know you hear that all the time but if you get a chance to demo the Diva 92 I do not think you will be dissapointed

My stereo is
Plinius 8150 Integrated Amp
NSM model 30 or Green Mountain Continuum 0.5 speakers
Music Hall MM-5 turntable
Synergystic Research power chords
Silver Sonic T-14 speaker wire.

Strength:

Great sound, nicely built

Weakness:

Expensive; remote has too many buttons that aren't used
(since it doubles for the DVD player, which I don't have).

I'd listened to CD players in the $700 range (listed above)
and was pretty happy, detecting little difference. I'd
actually purchased the Sony since I really like the sound, features, style, and compactness. It turned out, though,
that the Sony has a very low tolerance for errors on CDs
and I'd hear dropouts I wouldn't hear on even cheap
CD players. So, I had to choose something else but
wasn't too impressed with the build quality of the others
in the same price range. Then, by chance, I heard the DIVA
CD92 -- it really had a clarity and crispness I had never
heard. So far I haven't been disappointed with the sound
and build quality. I have only one complaint.
I was under the impression, from visiting the ARCAM websites
in the UK & USA, that there was a two year warranty on the
unit. The note from the USA distributor said, though, that the "CD laser" only has a one year warranty. No such limit is mentioned on the UK literature enclosed with the product. The UK literature also says their warranty is "worldwide." So, there's some confusion here and, after a week, I've received no reply from anyone at ARCAM (USA or UK) about what seems like a misrepresentation.

I just cross my fingers that the player *never* malfunctions! But, I have to notch down the value rating since it seems to me that at $1700 list the company should warranty this for even more than 2 years. (I must be spoiled by Bryston's 20 year warranty).
