Arcam CD192 CD Players

Arcam CD192 CD Players

DESCRIPTION

The player excels at bringing out low-level detail from the music and has a wonderfully deep and stable soundstage. In order to extract all of the fine detail and depth of sound absent from many other high-end designs, the CD192 uses sophisticated design techniques to ensure that factors such as clock accuracy and jitter, power supplies, digital filters and audio output stages are all optimised.

Strength:

Netural sound, precise, fast, easy to listen.

Weakness:

Hm, let me think :)

I bougth cd192 as replacement for thule cd 100, and find out arcam as excellent choice. Like somebody lifted up curtions between speakers and my. Sweet, warm, detailed sound, ideal match for my Primaluna Prologue two amp and top Croatian hi-end speakers manufacturer Audio Epilog, Peyotte model. VDH 102 mk3 as interconect and Mogami 3103 for speakers. Finally may say, this is the ultimate system I ever had, and hope will last long, long time. Whoever decides to by new cd palyer, listen to cd192, you will be surprised.

Strength:

Sounds

Weakness:

It's plastic, but who cares. His big metal jacked brother is far more expensive.

Don't want to hear no comments about upsmapling no more. This player is great. Compared with NAD 542, Cambridge Azur en Exposure 2100. Needs good interconnects. I use vandenhull "intergration".The only problem was it didn't read cd's very good (startup)at first. Good service from the dealer (and Arcam)...got a new one. For this price it's a real topper.

Strength:

FMJ CD33 performance but more than £300 cheaper (uses same multi-DAC/upsampler)

Weakness:

Needs to be run-in - approx 70hours (then again - what high-end components don't?)

This was a DAC upgrade for my CD73T. Initially a bit sceptical... heard the arguments for and against upsampling, however I was already convinced of the advantages of multi-DACs (better clocking, less harsh filtering) - result: better top/bottom end and overall clarity - it can be compared to listening to "re-masterings" of your older cd collection - without buying the re-master recordings... where the Arcam was previously described as warm and laid-back there is more impact to the sound - particularly in the upper-mid to top-end frequencies. More defined beginning and end of notes - lower noise floor. I run this player through an A85/P90 (bi-amped) into Monitor Reference GR20 speakers... I have arrived at my financial ceiling for this system with the DAC upgrade but I know that it would take in excess of £10,000 to better the sound I now have. Very pleased!
