Strength:

Has true color balance and needle sharp focus.

Weakness:

None I detected

I operate a video camera for a living, so I do consider myself an expert when it comes accurate color and sharp definition. I know a TV screen is not going to give you a picture as good as a good color photograph, but I was amazed at how the LAT International produced a picture with such correct color balance and deep saturation. Blacks are deep black, and whites are true whites. I do a lot of camera work and after-shooting, I do a lot of editing work viewing results on a screen. I can tell you one of the most difficult things for a television picture to produce is pure whites. With the LAT, there is not the slightest hint of any other color contamination in those areas that are supposed to be white. I am using it in my home system not a monitor at my place of work. Yet, the sharpness of the picture is the best I have ever seen on any CRT screen. I had on loan from a dealer and from a co-worker two cables to compare it to; a Purist Audio fluid filled and a Synergistic Research named the Line Doubler. Both cost in vicinity of $450.00. All were one meter in length. Comparing the Lat to the Synergistic Research, I found that the Lat presented colors that were much more pure and accurate than the Synergistic. The Synergistic also showed slight fuzzy edges around objects. They were not all that noticeable until you popped in the LAT. The difference then was obvious and from this point on the Synergistic became somewhat annoying to watch in not only this aspect of presentation but in virtually all others aspects. The Purest Audio gave a very similar presentation to the Synergistic. Though, the Synergistic was marginally better. I felt that the Purist Audio gave what we call a flat and slightly washed out picture especially when compared to the Lat. The fact that the LAT costs so much less than both is an added bonus. I was truly impressed and I will definitely try it with our editing monitors at work. Color accuracy is most important in our job. I think the Lat may very well make my job much easier. Strongly recommended!

Strength:

Comes close to what you see in a movie theater

Weakness:

Not a one

I heard from some fellow audiophiles that the L A T International component video cable was so great and so much better than others that cost a lot more. I was in the market for a good composite video cable, so I thought if their component video cable is really so great, I would take advantage of their 45 day money back guarantee and try the composite video cable. I thought I would compare it to a lower priced one; the BetterCable Silver Serpent, also to a higher priced one, the Oval Analysis Plus and also to a very high priced one, the fluid filled Purist Audio at $250.00. I also compared it the best one that Monstercable has to offer. I borrowed it so I don’t remember the exact model name and don’t know the price. The LAT is not an expensive cable, yet the picture I get is phenomenal. Compared to the others including the high priced Siltech, I was bowled over! I get great color saturation and color accuracy. Flesh colors especially are very accurate. So many TV pictures have bad flesh tone colors. The LAT straightens it right up. The picture also becomes much sharper with the LAT which is something the others could not come close to matching. The sharpness, color depth and accuracy are very close to what you see in a movie theater. Well, I become more and more convinced every day that a cable price has nothing to do with the performance you can expect. The BetterCable is not in the same class as the others. The Oval Analysis Plus is O.K. The Monstercable is very mediocre. In my experience, and as I believe all high-end enthusiasts also believe, they have a big name but low tech, low fi performance in all of their cables. The Purist Audio, which came in second (a distant second), is a lot more expensive than the LA T but is no match for it in any category of performance!
