Strength:

Wonderfully detailled, deep in the bass, wonderfully delicate in the trebles and wonderful reproduction of mid range

Weakness:

None

I don't want to write the same as all the other below, I agree with all their comments. I have tried so many types and brands of cables that I can hardly remember them all, and I have sold all of them off, but this is the best cable I have ever heard and I knew this from the very first second I listened. It was as if a cloud had dissipated over the music I was listening to. Maybe there are better cables, I have not met them or vice versa and if there is soemthing better you can let me know, but till then, I olny put Zcable onto my systems, the best speaker cables I have ever heard, they also offer great service at zacable.com.

For the past few days, I have tried to narrow down the superlatives that I feel apply to the ZCable LIVE interconnects and the ZCable PASSION speaker cables. I cannot! "Unsurpassed Presence", "Wonderfully Coherent", "Suberb Haromonic Structure" are only some -- you decide where to stop, as once again, I cannot. But let me say that those who wish for more and clearly better bass, may now cease praying for it -- by adding the ZCable LIVE interconnects and the ZCable PASSION speaker cables to their systems. Finally, if there is a better set of interconnects or speaker cables out there, it can come to me. With the ZCable in my system, I have no desire or need to look any further! ZCable is simply at the top of any scale that exists, period!
SYSTEM: Wadia 850 Player, ARC VT100MKII Amp, Dunlavy SCIII Speakers,

SYSTEM DELETIONS: MIT Pro 330 Interconnects, & MIT Terminator 2 Speaker Cables.

Soundstage was very stable and wide, imaging was excellent as well. The bass was very quick and tight, (actually awesome is a better description) while the midrange was as smooth and clear as experienced with the ZCable LIVE. The upper frequencies were very clear, especially as the dynamics increased. The one item I did notice, that surprised me, was on soft drum and cymbal passages, there seemed to have a slight veil over them. They were not quite as crisp and clear as I remembered them when listening with the Synergistic Research Resolution Reference cables. To see if I was imagining, I put the Resolution Reference back in and again heard the crisp and detail notes I had heard before.
From my extended listening session and the several days of on and off again listening during the break-in, ZCable’s Purple Passion speaker cable is an excellent cable. I would definitely give it a 5-star rating. This considers the value for the dollar you get with it, in addition to the great sound. For equivalent performance with the Synergistic Research line (assuming you biwire), you would need to spend at least $2,770 compared to the Purple Passion’s price of $985.

To summarize, the bass frequencies with the Purple Passion are awesome. On the mid-range, it is easily the equal of any cable, including the Resolution Reference. However, on the upper frequencies, the Purple Passion cables were only about 90% to 95% of the Resolution Reference. I am going to use the Purple Passion in conjunction with the Synergistic Research Resolution Reference, to extract the last bit of detail from the music.

I bi-amp my B&W 801 Matrix Anniversary Series speakers. I purchased the ZCable PASSION speaker cables to use on my bass connection of my speakers. I had been using the Nordost RED DAWN’s. With the RED DAWN’s the impact of the bass was present, but it was followed up by very little. I think this is the case with quite a few high end products – one aspect of their performance seems a bit impressive, but that is because other aspects are weak. With the ZCable PASSION speaker cables, the impact was even greater, but also so much more musical information followed.

I stand in front of two different orchestras many hours a week, and sit in the middle of two others every few weeks. Putting the ZCable PASSION in my system gave me a real sense of being surrounded by the acoustic instruments with individual personalities.

Here are some specific observations:

The bass reproduction is crisp and tight, and at the same time very realistic; there is an ambience and resonance behind it that enhances the realism. In addition to setting up their own harmonic series response, lower notes in the musical spectrum have an effect on all the notes sounded above. As a result, really accurate reproduction of the bass results in a more harmonic and tonal integrity throughout the system.

Putting the ZCable PASSION on my woofers allowed for a more lifelike presentation of the music, making nuances of dynamics, color and articulation much more evident. When several low instruments are combined with timpani it is suddenly easy to identify what instruments are involved. The tonal accuracy and revealing detail of the cable delineates similar sounding instruments extremely well.

The bottom line is that, to my ears, this cable does what the promotional information says it should. A realistic combination of clarity, detail, warmth and ambience is presented in a well-balanced and pleasing manner. I found, however, that using this cable on the bass of my system gave me much more overall improvement than I expected.
