Strength:

Good Sound Ratio for Price

Weakness:

Little Lack of Bass & Soundstage, & Harsness of Highs Compared to Other Cables

I was given a pair of these fine Bi-wires to test with a custom pair of Synergistic Research Bi-wires for one week. The sound test will be done with the following: Sony XA7ES CD player balance out with Harmonic Technology Silway II's balance in to a Krell 300i intregrated 150 watt/8 ohm amp with comparsion of the 2 different Bi-wires to a pair of NHT VT-2 speakers. Past set-up with the speakers can be seen on review under "Main Speaker NHT VT-2" which consisted with the same CD player & balance interconnects but with an Audio Research LS16 pre-amp balance out to an Aragon 8008BB 200 watt amp via Monster Cable 2.4 Bi-wires. Therefore I have heard the NHT VT-2 speakers with 3 different Bi-wires & 2 different amps. I also have had & heard Harmonic Technology Pro 9 & Pro 11 Bi-wires, but not with the NHT VT-2 speakers, therefore I will not compare in this test. The music was some of the following: Holly Cole "Temptation", Phillip Glass "Life Out of Balance", Geri Allen "Eyes in the Back of Your Head". First let me write that I am surprise with myself on how subjective hearing is & at times or with certain music the Tara Labs RSC Prime 1000 Bi-wires sounded the best, but over all the other listed Bi-wires won. Most of the time the Tara Labs Bi-wires sounded with a little less bass & soundstage, with a slight harsness with the highs. The other listed Bi-wires are also made better because the Tara Labs white outer coating can blacken over time & give a worn out look. On the plus side the other Bi-wires listed are about 1/2 to twice the price of the Tara Labs Bi-wires, which may explain the lack of build quality & over all sound. Therefore the Tara Labs Bi-wires may of won due to sound per price ratio which for a value rating I give a "5". In the end the Monster Cable 2.4 Bi-wires are going to stay with the Aragon 8008BB amp to Martin Logan SL3 speakers in the front room & I will be buying the Synergistic Research custom Bi-wires for the Krell 300i integrated amp to NHT VT-2 speakers. Over all rating a "4" when compared to the other listed Bi-wires.

Strength:

Solid price / performance

Weakness:

Requires ample 60 -80 hours break-in period. Mine look like gray garden hose.

After 3-4 months of medium high spl break in, these (bi-wired) cables come into their own. Musically detailed. New subtlties and texture revealed. Realism, depth and spatial imaging are all enhanced. The RSC Prime 1000s have been a great upgrade.
