Strength:

Sound stage Speaker seperation tighter bass Price More detailed

Weakness:

Almost seemed to make my system bright sounding, but hope with a little more burn time they will mellow out.

I hooked these jumpers up to my NAD C370 and immediately heard more detail in my system. Watch out if your system is on the bright side. Drastic improvement in soundstage and speaker seperation. My house-mate also noticed the bass got tighter. Some reviewers said that they lost bass, but I think they might have just lost some of the boom. There is much more going on in the high frequency range. Almost bright. I figured with all the money they I spent on my Synergistic research interconnects I should give these a try. Its worth it. Im giving it 4 stars because I have not tried anything else. Strength:

Gives you more insight into the music. Detail, Air, Bass, Better focus and soundstage.

Weakness:

Hard to remove when first hooked up!

The "missing link" used on the NAD C320: These small interconnects does a great job when used with this little wonder of an amplifier. The original NAD sound great but with the missing link hooked up everything just sounded even better! Better imagination, more air and stronger focus and I also feel that the bass got a more clean appearance. This is one really great upgrade in all aspects!

Strength:

Major Improvements in transparency, musicality and harmonic structure.

Weakness:

Feeble construction. Probably should be installed and left alone. Thanks to other reviewers for the warning.

These short interconnects made a "meaningful" difference to the music reproduction of the Creek 5350SE, making it a very effective and worthy upgrade to the Creek.
The transparency of the entire soundstage improved, making the air between the instruments more "perceivable". The harmonic structure of the instruments and the natural air and sweetness of live music became apparent. The transient speed of the music increased, letting the music flow much smoother. Mid bass cleaned up, improvement to low bass extension was minor but the bass became more tuneful and rhythmic. Vocals sung instead of yelled. Resolution and level of detail across the entire spectrum improved a great deal. High frequency extension also improved and the highs lost edginess.
To me, replacing the stock metal U joints with the RSC Link yielded a highly worthwhile improvement overall. Highly recommended for similar applications. Not easy to convey in words how pleasantly surprised I was.

Strength:

it sounds terrific

Weakness:

not many tara labs dealers in my area

When I first heard that spending 30 bucks to replace the little U-jumpers on my NAD C340 amp would improve the sound, I was a bit skeptical. However, a little voice in my head was pointing out that if it actually did improve my amp's (already good) sound, it would be worth the small cost. So I sent away to Texas (Mark Lyon at AudioSystems in Austin). Well, I just got them and must say that I'm a believer. The decidedly plain but functional Tara Labs packaging states "Taras Labs' Missing Link is the only connector of its kind made with Rectangular Solid Core conductors. Conductors are made of Consonant Alloy (TM) for maximum conductivity: The same Gen 2 conductors used in RSC interconnects and speaker cables. Due to the increased frequency linearity of RSC conductors, Missing Links will dramatically increase the accuracy, coherency and detail of any component with pre-in & main-out sockets." Whatever...in other words, try it!

Strength:

Gives your amplifier what it's been missing.

Weakness:

Very fragile.

I don't agree that these weaken the bass. They do let in more of the character of your source component, os if this has a tendency to push the highs forward, for instance, the jumpers can make it worse. I have an MSB Link DAC feeding into my Bryston B60, and the Missing Link jumpers really help the soundstage and detail of the presentation. Definitely worth a try on any integrated amp with pre-out and main-in. Other than the build quality, they are an incredible sound improvement for the money.

Product : The TaraLABS 'The Missing Link'
Function: To be used as a jumper interconnect, between the pre - main rca sockets.

Cable Conductor : Three 'Generation 2' conductors made of 'Constant Alloy', the same used in the TaraLabs's RSC Master and Decade Cables.

Length : ~0.15 m (~6 in.)

Price : US$ 29.95 (of June 21st, 1999)

Reviewed with : NAD 314 integrated amp, NAD 502 CD player, Paradigm Mini Monitor speakers, AudioQuest Type 2 speaker cables and ESB Superconductors interconnects.

Review : These cables made a noticable improvements over the the U-metal plugs that came with my NAD 314. Compared to the metal plugs, the bass got much tighter and the highs more sharp and crisp (cymbals acutally 'felt' like cymbals). But the jumpers did lower the overall volume of my 314, which I don't mind that much.

The cable looks very homemade ( I am guessing all TaraLabs are home made).

Strength:

Good treble, some treble air

Weakness:

Poor lower mid and bass; lightweight sound

My system is also a B60 sourced by a Link Dac. During the first couple of weeks of ownership of my B60, I felt that treble was more attractive than my previous separates had shown, but maybe it could be juiced up a bit more.
Unfortunately the Links did not live up to their Audioreview ratings in my system. I tend to agree with those who found them to be lightweight. They give a slightly more detailed, sweeter treble rendition but at the expense of lower mids and bass. The tonal balance is shifted up. In other words these simply are a trade-off, giving one audio virtue at the expense of the others. Since the strength of the B60 is in the midrange and upper bass, I don't see much point to backgrounding that just to get an artifically sweet sounding treble.
An example is Stan Getz' Serenity CD. The piano soloist expresses his main ideas with one hand in the treble range, while the other hand accompanies with comping in the midrange. Through the U-bars, the midrange chords are always forceful, but through the Links, you sometimes can barely hear those chords although you can hear all the treble notes easily. Also the powerful bass in this recording fades away through the Links.
Improvement on the U-bars is certainly possible, but it will require a jumper or interconnect of greater range and transparency than these. The Links are 'good value' but
$30 is still $30. Don't buy unless you can try first.

I bought these cables on a fluke on day after using interconnects for a while. I didn't expect to hear any great sound improvements. But I was intrested in somthing shorter than the 1/2 meter cables I had been using.
When I brought these home, I wasn't thrilled with the construction. They are made up of the head of an RCA plug, 3 twisted Tara Labs RSC cables, and heat swrink. What I bought was the BEST SOUNDING jumpers I have heard!

After realizing the difference that these cables made in my system, I decided to try other jumpers. 1st was the AudioQuest jumpers. They use 1 strand of solid Silver wire, and are made with the entire RCA plug, not just the head. I was thrilled with the construction but not the sound. Then I decided to make my own jumpers using 6" length's of Kimber Kable PBJ, and some decent RCA's from my local dealer. The construction of these was as nice or nicer than the AudioQuest, and the sound almost as good as the Tara Labs but not as refiend.

When It was all said and done, I settled back right where I had started with the TARA LABS "MISSING LINK", THE BEST SOUNDING JUMPER!!! Spend the $30.00 and get your self a pair of these.

I bought these in part to JP's review and I figured anything was better than the two chunks of metal that came with my Bryston B-60. I chose them over the Audioquest because I had $30 in my pocket at the moment and not $40. So far they are working (and sounding) great. There was a definate improvement over the stock shorting plugs.
My next adventure is to get a pair of super high quality silver plugs ( I don't think they will tarnish as the Interconnects haven't in over 2 years) The guy who makes the D Lin (now Silver Audio)Silver Bullets interconnects(rave reviews here, actually only one of four cables in the hall of fame) makes shorting cables for bi-wire speakers. I called him (also in Phoenix) and talked about making jumpers with the same cable used for these speaker jumpers (actually 32 micro guage pure silver single crystal speaker wire) by terninating them with the same RCA's he uses for the silver bullets (with out the ground of course, still need the true loop) He said he could make them for around $60. What a bargain. His 1M interconnects go for $225, which is cheap considering most people like them better than Kimber KCAG or even KCTG cables. Definately get the Tara Labs though, they really work. My Tara dealer said they will only get better with time as the Tara RSC products take a while to burn in.

just bought these, and from what i'm hearing, BIG improvement from coat hangers that came with my amc/intergrated. clarity, without harshness, something my deft tech bp8b's are prone too. well worth the price , $60. canadian.

since i've only heard these jumpers cables, and can not honestly, compare them with others, 4 stars is my rating.
