Strength:

hm?

Weakness:

very bright, spitiness

my system: marantz pm-66se k.i.
marantz cd63mk2 k.i.
tannoy R2 speakers

This cable has too much of everything, a very agressive treible, a boomy bass. This is in a system that's not very bright or with a heavy bass. In my opinion this is the right cable if you want to impress someone, for the first hour or so it sounds good, (after a burn-in period of 72 hours, of course), but after a while i found it to be very "loud", tiering, not at all "musical". If you don't have a large room and your speakers are close to a wall (a feet and a half in my case), it will probbably distort the bass more than it should. I read that this is a very detailed cable, i have some doubts about that. The soundstage is narrow, not at all deep. But the worst fault that it had in my system was the "sitiness". The treible is bright, but not much brighter than some other cables i had. Regardless of this the letters like final "s" or initial "f" sounded terribly. Acctualy i got the impression that some words started normally "from the woffer" to end "in the tweeters", and viceversa if there was an initial "f". Here i will beg you to forgive my poor English, i tried to do my best to explain it. In other words it was a nightmare to hear something like: "This is a song...".
Someone had to say something bad about this cable too :)

This is not a cable for a similar system like mine, if you like a more "laid back" sound, but if you have an "anemic" one, that needs to be filled with a lot of everything, maybe...

Just the final sentence: this is a very "hi-fi" cable, it reminded me of "weaknesses" in my system, all the time, not allowing me to relax and enjoy music.

Strength:

Excellent tonal balance, clarity, detail.

Weakness:

Not available in the U.S. Even though, it is kind of cool ordering from England.

I doubt you can get a better cable for the price. These are some very good, well made, neutral sounding cables. They are definitely a "best buy". I personally don't need anything else. Can't wait to order another four sets.

Strength:

Price vs quality.

Weakness:

nothing significant at this price.

A Good product. Suits low to mid priced equipment. Good balance of everything, mids low and high. Very listenable
from Classical to fast beats. If you too agree Music is in the soul not the sound. The sound thru this product brings a vivid character to the soul of the note.

Strength:

Details!, stereo imaging and seperation, realistic mids, price.

Weakness:

Lack of refinement, bold and fetiguing, low and high edges rolled off to give a smooth impression.

But for this price to complain?

Strength:

Not seen many 0.5m interconnects at this price; good, clean, if slightly sweet sound

Weakness:

The price difference between 1m of QUNEX 2 (I've been told QNECT and QUNEX range are the same thing) and 0.5m was a measly £3. Surely thats taking the piss?

As mentioned above, I'm not using the 1m version of this cable but the 0.5m one. It is a decent cable at a reasonable price (I paid £27 - GBP for a half metre). The bass frequencies come out fine, and it looks like a quality piece of equipment, which is right, as it is! It also doesn't limit the airiness of music, which my old cables did. And like a guy said before, it will bring out deficiencies in your system, so beware.

Strength:

Very well-balanced sound --- clean, clear treble allied with weighty yet nimble bass. Spacious soundstaging too.

Weakness:

None, I'm afraid.

This is a very musical cable which simply heightens the pleasure I am already getting from my new cd player. I won't write an essay praising it to the skies because others before me have done so already. It just suffices for me to say that this QED does its job superbly; it is absolutely free from any sonic nasties. Well done, QED!

By the way, I had considered the SonicLink Silverpink too, but decided to go for the handsome QEDs, after comparing the build quality of their plugs. The QEDs' looked and felt far more sturdier. I had also read the good reviews about the performance of the Silverpink, however its plasticky plugs just put me off. Sorry.

QED is a British company whose basic under-pinning theory for itsinterconnects is "the signal that leaves the cable should be the same as
the one that entered it." To meet that theory, QED has a line of
interconnects for audio and video applications, including the Qnect 2.
The Qnect 2 is composed of low loss LDPE dielectric and 99.999
oxygen free copper (OFC) in a twisted balanced geometry with an aluminum
mylar foil and OFC braid. QED's URL is www.qed.co.uk. The cable has
received most favorable reviews in British audio journals. Refer to the
review at www.hifichoice.co.uk for further information. There is only
one US distributor. See the QED webpage for that information. I had to
contact him to find a dealer.

Mission Impossible. That is what it seemed like as I started out to
find an acceptable interconnect for under $100 per meter. I was looking
for excellent tonal balance with exceptional imaging, detail, and
dynamics in an uncolored medium. To make it even more difficult I was
putting the interconnects in a bright system (Philips CD player) which
would soon be upgraded to a less bright player. The receiver was a
Luxman R-1050. The speaker wire was Tara Labs Prism Bi-wire, and the
speakers were Mission 772s. Genres of music were classical and choral.

Ok, I spent countless hours perusing reviews and soliciting comments. I
narrowed my choices to Prism 22, Straightwire Chorus, QED Qnect 2, and
Wireworld Atlantis II. I obtained the first two and subjected them to a
burn in period of over 60 hours. The Prism destroyed the dynamics of my
system, and everything sounded bland. The Chorus was quite pleasing - a
little bright on the treble- but listener fatigue set in quickly.

After weeks of searching, I finally located a dealer for QED. The
interconnects retail for 30 pounds Sterling in the UK where they
are assembled. I paid $75 here in the states, which seemed reasonable.
I started the burn in period and was unimpressed at first. They were
very similar to Chorus. At about 8 hours something began to happen, and
the interconnects began to open up. So had the Prisms before falling
flat on their face. I was prepared for the worst. However, by 24 hours
the QEDs had exploded and met all the criteria I had set forth. There
was not sense proceeding onto Wireworld.

In an orchestral setting this interconnect is quite lively and tonally
balanced. Bass is tight and the upper end is stunning. Imaging and
detail are more than satisfactory. I did not observe the slight
imperfections noted in a British review. I was able to become
absorbed into the music, enjoying each nuance of delicate
works as well as the full presentation of more robust performances.
Using my audition disks which run the gamut from piano and violin to
complicated orchestral works, I found that these interconnects can
handle it all. Especially pleasing was a particularly fine performance
of "Pictures at an Exhibition" which is sonically splendid and whose
astounding dynamics had been masked by the other two interconnects.

However, I believe the area where this interconnect excels is choral.
Listening to "Be Still My Soul - The Ultimate Hymns Collection" was an
incredible experience. Not only did I feel the choirs were right in
front of me, I experienced the depth of the choirs as well as being able
to distinguish individual voices in each work. Absolutely stunning.
The lyrics of some choral works that had previously been almost
unintelligible became clear, and the lyrics were easily understood.

If you can lay your hands on a set of these interconnects, I urge you to
give them a try. They are very well suited to classical and, I assume,
other acoustical forms of music. One caveat - these interconnects are
very, very revealing, which is a two edged sword. Five stars across the
board even from the Russian judge who was observed crying tears of joy
as she left the room after hearing "Swan Lake.".
