Strength:

Open let out the most subtle of inner Details

Weakness:

It just is an odd shape once you get past that life is good!

This was one of those pleasant surprises that pops in every so often. I was doing some listening and I had the oppurtunity to listen to these fine cables. I was listening through some Audio Research Equipment. ( the Ls-25 Pre-amp & the Vt-100 MkIII amp to be exact). What I truly enjoyed was how effortless things in the front sounstage appeared, No grain, or harshness just a wonderful dynamic open sound, The Audioquest truly did some things very right as well but this is one of those times when the cable itself must be matched in to your system. Ahppy listening !!!!!!!!!!!

These are great cables. This is by far the best cable I've ever listened to. This cable was the most drastic upgrade to my system sonically. If you are looking for a live sounding feel, try these cables. The soundstage these create are awesome. If you already have speakers that can do it well these will make the soundstage even better. They produce an airy feeling sound. The bass is very tight and punchy. I never had this kind of out of my speakers until I got these. You don't have to get very expensive speakers to get this sound. I first used these on my Definitive Tech BP 6's. I can't wait to here these on my new Genesis Tech's. If you are looking to buy a cable look into Nordost. They make very good cables and also they look very sharp.

First impression to the Red Dawn speaker cables after an overnight run-in was ... wow! suddenly there was less background noise and everything was clearer. This cable has a lot going for it, extended clean highs, good midrange and quick bass although the bass lacks that bit of impact. Soundstage is very wide but I would have liked some more depth. Because of the lowered background noise and extra detail, the effect it had on close miked voice were ... I could almost feel his/her breath.
After listening to them for about a week, there was something that kept irritating me. Cannot put my finger on it, all I can say is that music comes out a little too ultra clean (not bright as some might say). May be it's the system which consist of YBA pre, Goldmund amp and Aerial speakers.

For those of you out there who own and love the Red Dawn speaker cables, good for you. Me, it just isn't my cup of tea. So three and a half speakers.

Strength:

Transparency, neutrality, involving

Weakness:

Price

After much earing, I've decided to purchase these wonderfull cables. Comparing to many others, Nordost Red Down proved to be the most revealing and transparent of all cables. Musical and very detailed without beeing analitical, they present music in a unforced, natural way, creating a very large spacial presentation. Bass is powerfull and tunefull, midrange is clear, transparent and involving and highs are very extended, neutral and informative. One of the best buy components for a quality audio system. In my experience only SMP Reference could better them but at a very high price.

Strength:

Very well made, attractive appearance, audiophile quality

Weakness:

expensive, a bit fragile due to ribbon wire style

This wire is a step up in price and in audiophile scale from the Blue Heavens, in Nordost's high end speaker wire line-up. I actually prefered the more visually appealing Blue Heaven to the look of the Red Dawns. The Red Dawns had the Nordost Z banana plugs which ae well made, allowing easy wire connection and disconnections, while maintaining a firm grip at all times. Inductance, resistance, and capacitance parameters are favorable. The wires sounded very nice, creating no deleterious effects or colorations to the music. The sound was equivalent to the Blue Heavens, and the Red Dawns, at a price that is between those other two. They are lightweight and flexible, but be cautious about stepping on them or bending them too sharply, as this will cause unattractive creases and risk damage to the continuity of one or more of the small conductors inside the ribbon.
