After putting the Z1s in, I knew at once that this was the sound I had been seeking. These cables show the ambience of the recording better than generic wire or even worse, car audio wire.

Strength:

Very strong soundstaging, neutral sounding,

Weakness:

rubber insulators easily slide over banana plugs, but not back

I purchased these cables after feeling dissatisfied with my new stereo, which used Monster's entry level cable in the M-Series, the MCX-1S. These cables are much improved, especially in soundstaging and bass reproduction, which were the major weak points in the MCX cables. Also, while my previous cables made my system sound harsh and cold, these cables help bring out the warm musical sound my other components are noted for. These cables are a good match for the H/K 3370 receiver and Boston Acoustics Lynnfield VR-20 speakers I am using, and they do not impede on the warm sound my pro-bit Yamaha CD player produces.

Compared to the MCX-1S cables these are replacing, the Z1's are more tightly wound, 14 gauge vs. 16 gauge, and have a better connection to the banana plugs. Monster's cheaper speaker wire looked poorly soldered, while the wires in the Z1 cable are clamped to the plugs. Sound and construction is far superior in these cables, and they are highly recommended.

absolutely outstanding. This is the best purchase I have made for my stereo system in a long time. I was considering upgrading my speakers but am SO GLAD I went with spending some cash on some nice cable first.
My Denon/Acoustic Energy system was singing like a songbird for the first time last night. Actually, like a loud songbird capable of deep bass was sitting on each of my shoulders. The newfound soundstage is superb. I know there is a huge markup on Monster stuff, but I don't care. Thank you thank you

Strength:

Incredible increase in Mids quality. Beautiful open sound created. Nice tight bass. Good looks.

Weakness:

none

I have several friends who think I'm crazy spending this kind of money on speaker cable. They believe the cable makes no difference. I must admit I was once like that too until I heard the Z1R. Firstly, the mids and highs open up noticeably WITHOUT being bright. it is almost as though my previous cable was muffling the sound slightly. The most amazing thing is the mids. Singing voices seem amplified. Listening to my Cat Stevens or Marvin Gaye CD's is amazing. Their voices are so much more forward and clearer. The sound stage is larger and the sound itself is much more open. Classical music, which used to sound very boxy with my Monitor Audio 8i are now open, as though you are in a concert hall. As for the bass, it is as pronounced as before (not overpowering). Where the Z1 improves bass is in how tight it is!

For the price, I think this is a great audiophile cable for those who don't have thousands of dollars to spend.

I bought this cable in bulk to upgrade my definitive BP6B speakers' internal wiring. Deftech BP6B is a bipolar speaker with 2 tweeters and 2 woofers for each unit speaker. I used one cable for each driver to provide a clean and smooth signal transfer from the x-over to the drivers. The result was very promising with a very definition of bass. It was expected before when I planned to use this cable, since monster cable is more for bass lover, but this Z series, they are more concentrating in building the mid and high sounds. As a result, the mids and highs are also very pleasing compared to monster M series.

Wow!!! I replaced my Monster XP speaker cables with these recently. I always thought that the XP's were very good cables, especially for the price. In fact, I was skeptical that the Z1's would sound any better, despite costing nearly four times as much per foot. All I can say is that the Z1's absolutely blow the XP's out of the water! My system(McIntosh 1700 receiver, Techniques SL 5200 turntable,H/K FL8380 CD player, and JBL LX500 loudspeakers-if anyone cares)has never sounded better. This is probably the most cost-effective way to dramatically upgrade your system.

I picked some of this cable up today for the heck of it..I guess I was willing to experiment and see if there is an audible difference between Monster's XP standard stuff and their Z1R reference series...Yep!! I'm thinking about upgrading all around to this stuff(5.1) after testing it out on my center channel alone. I am currently running a paradigm cc-170(Paradigm all around) on a Sony 555ES. Boy did it warm the sound up. I couldn't believe that the cable made that much difference. It will cost you a couple of more bucks than standard XP, but I think it's warranted(Especially on front 3 channels). I paid $2.10 a foot for it...

Strength:

Great Sound - Reasonable Price

Weakness:

I have used some basic monster cable's for the past few years. I saw the Z1's at Best Buy and since my wife used to work there, the salespeople know me and don't try to con me. They were highly recommended and I have to agree that they were worth the money. Great sound with a noticable improvement - I plan on replacing the rest of my speaker wire with this !!
