Strength:

Awesome sound. Affordable price. Excellent value factor.

Weakness:

Not too many people know about the difference that this cable makes.

I can't say enough about MIT cables. The HTOS, or AVT Optical 2 (as it is now known), blows away the competition. This thing puts the sound back in digital. When tested against my previous Monster ILS-100, the MIT completed destroyed it! And this was out of a PlayStation 2, into a Yamaha RX-V730 digital A/V receiver. The HTOS gave new life to my music, games, and movie sountracks. The soundstage opened right up. The bass was remarkably deep and controlled. Voices had weight and depth to them. Highs were open, smooth, and extremely detailed. So, what's the differene between the MIT, and all other optical cables? First of all, price! it's actually $10 cheaper that the much inferior Monster ILS-100. The real erason, though, is the manner in which the cable is cut, and the precision polishing of its lenses, and the tightness with which the connectors fit.

Strength:

MIT name. Sound quality was acceptable .

Weakness:

poor construction , materials , quality control , & assembly .

I paid $50 for it which seems to be about as much as you can pay for a Toslink , although there are a few exceptions .
The endcap / connector broke during installation . Being that it was Saturday night , & I had rented dvd's ,I was stuck . I took it apart & then realized the reason it had broken was that the cable itself had been improperly installed into the endcap / connector at the factory . I managed to repair the fault & glued the end cap / connector back together .
It worked fine for the evening , but I was unhappy with the build construction . I bought a Straight Wire Toslink on for $50 on Monday & it has been in my system ever since then . It even has machined end caps / connectors versus the plastic ones on the MIT .
I would be hard pressed to recommend this toslink to anyone . There are better quality ones out there from companies like Straight Wire & Vampire Wire , etc .
