I had been searching for a pair of speaker cables to replace my Kimber 4TC because 4TC was too bright to my room, my speakers, and my musical taste. After listening to MIT2, Linn 400 and Transparent (the model that cost Can$200/8 foot), I ended up buying the Linn 400 for its natural sound and details. I finally can hear the wood and hammer of the piano, the richness of the french horn, the sweetness of a string orchestra, and the warmth of a choir. I spended about Can$200 and the improvement was more dramatic than upgrading from a Philips CD player to Mission DAC5 that I did last year.
Sample CDs:
Rachmaninoff performs his solo piano works (Telarc CD-80489)
Arvo Part's Te Deum (ECM 1505)
Mozart's Symphony No.29 (Telarc CD-80165)
Wynton Marsalis' Baroque Music for Trumpets (CBS MK 42478)

Strength:

articulate, sharp they tell how it is, if you want "colored" cables to tame your exagarated highs. You then don't want LK-400. Simply said:"neutral"

Weakness:

they req. careful system matching.(If that is the weakness?)

LK-400 i bought with the rest of the Linn stuff(Majik, Tukans...)I felt that sound was too "lean", so i replaced them with MIT-4 bi-W. that helped to round-up the sound a bit. However,by adding the SUB to my system i aded enough of roundness, and bottom. Now 400 are "speaking, and clearly outperforming the MIt's

Strength:

Very Good music preformance. Price.

Its sounds like a Hi-End cables with a very affordable price. I think it is under price. But, consider this cable did not have any beautiful package, no gimmicks, no fancy prints & I think thats why it can come with this low price. You can use it with AV amp & it will give you more musical performance which most of the cables cannot do it within the LINN K400 price range(Even the cable that cost more). In stereo format, even much better. I'm actually think this is the most "Clever Purshase" in my ststem. You don't need whole LINN system to enjoy the cable & the price is too low for such a good cables. I recommend those cable( K20 & K400) to anyone with tight budget but also want a pair of Hi-End cables. Don't be fool by the package or fancy prints on the cable. Too many people judge the cable with their "Looks", & many hi-fi magazines just do the comment base on how much money they can get from the cable maker.

Strength:

clarity, detail, reasonable price for high end cable

Weakness:

none

I have a Linn amplifier and recently added Linn speakers. When I first got the speakers, I hooked them up with the Audioquest Indigo I had on hand. The sound was OK but there was something missing. Adding the Linn cable made a significant improvement--more detailed sound overall and better bass articulation. Definitely go for this cable if you have Linn gear. From what I've read on the net, you can better the performance of this cable in an all Linn system, but you have to spend a lot more money to do it.
