A great improvement- so I thought. I took out my old cables and replaced them with these beauties. And what a difference it made. Tighter bass, crisp high end, a huge soundstage so wide I believed the instruments were literally surrounding me. Amazing!

But then I decided to blind test them. I asked my girlfriend over- yes, I have one- and together we switched out the new cables with the old MIT cables. She tested me- and I tested her. For hours we listened. There was not a single difference between these and the more expensive MIT cables, at least none which we could hear.

OK, I thought, both these super expensive cables are doing the same job. How to choose?

Then I had an idea. I went into the garage and found a spool of bell wire. Maybe 200', and about the thinnest wire you can imagine. I hooked it up to one of the speakers and blind tested it. My girlfriend had no idea whether we were listening to both the MIT cables, or just one, or the Canares, or the 200' spool of bell wire. There was no difference.

And that is all it took. Speaker cables are a total con. If you don't believe me, try it yourself. Test a fancy set of cables- any ones you want- against the cheapest, thinnest, longest spool of wire you can lay your hands on. If you can see what is going on you will always prefer the expensive, cool looking cables. But if you are being blind tested, you will not be able to tell the difference.

This is a short review for Canare 4s11 Quadlink speaker cable which I had for already a year. Cable produces very balanced and clear sound. With this cable my setup came to life and friends liked it so much that i had to build them all a pair or two to each. This is a rare find under $200, and not too many cables can produce this good of a sound. I'm still switching between this and DH Labs Q-10 which I find very nice, but a tad too harsh.

Greatly balanced speaker cables with full bass and accentuated trebles. Produces very pleasant punchy sound with my Klipsch RF-3 setup. Have not tried the bi-wired configuration. I compared to my hi-end JPS Superconductor cables, and the only two minor drawback is some slight harshness in midtones and highs are loud and crisp, but not the very high end of them. Overall for the money I paid ($50) I can highly recommend them.

Strength:

great middle tones, sounds really good with low volume

Weakness:

none!

It's amazing what a pair of good cables can do! i really had no idea, and until recently i was using just plain cables from radio shack - mistake. I had no idea that my system (Denon DRA-685 with pair of Wharfedale PI-10 speakers, Nakamichi DVD-10) can sound so good.

Strength:

Tightened up my bass; cleaned up the sound..made it more "present" and clear. Cymbals were more crisp. Techflex braiding on cables is cool...like on a race car's hoses.

Weakness:

I wish the banana plugs wre a tad bit shorter; they don't fully insert into my terminals, but they are very close.

I just upgraded to these cables, and I had forgotten you could hear such a big difference between cables. My speakers are a pair of Boston Acoustics VR-M90's and when I bought them, I bought some Monster Cable at the show room. I had used a set of nice Kimber Kable a number of years ago, and on my old Klipsch speakers, I could hear a little difference with the Kimbers, but on speakers of this caliber, these new cables made a huge difference. I read some reviews on Canare 4S11 on this site, and found http://www.clearcables.com which carries the Canare 4S11 I was interested in. It looked like serious cable for a reasonalbe cost, so I ordered it. They arrived, and I hooked them up after listening to my old cables one last time for comparison. I fired up Blue Man Group's DVD-Audio entitled "Audio". There was a huge difference I noticed immediately. The first thing I noticed was more "impact" in the drums. IT seemed louder as well...the normal "number" I chose on my receiver was louder than with my old cables. The cymbals and guitar also seemed more "present"...If I compared sound to vision, it was like looking through a freshly cleaned front car windshield vs. looking through a hazy front windshield when you are facing the sun. I am very satisfied, and I will be getting another cable to hook up my rack mount sub amp to my giant subwoofer very soon.

Strength:

Thick heavy gauge construction, mesh techflex shield looks awesome, flexible despite thickness, good quality construction, EXCELLENT SOUND QUALITY, very reasonable price.

Weakness:

No fancy markings, "plain jane"...straightforward design.

These are awesome speaker cables. I have used a lot of high end cables, and Canare 4S11 speaker cables are by far the best cable for the money. I bought a bi-wire set, 4 meter length, to hook up to my Mirage FRX-7 floor standing speakers. I listen to a lot of stereo music, and I just picked up Fleetwood Mac's DVD-Audio "Rumours" which has a hi-res stereo mix. I swapped out my standard Monster Cable 10 Gauge, which I had been using for about a year, and put on the ClearCables Canare 4S11's. Before I swaped them, I listened to several tracks. After the switch, I was astonished at teh clarity. The cymbals were so crisp and clear, the snare was tight, and the midbass was strong and full. These sounded as good as many high end cables I have used, including Kimber Kable and AudioQuest. The construction is no frills and to the point - they have a black techflex mesh jacket, heatshrink on the ends, and banana plugs. Overall, a great upgrade. I will soon buy a single ended cable for my center channel.

Strength:

Big, Flexible, Rugged. Opened up the soundstage and detail of my speakers. Very nice highs, mids and lows. Does seem like there is a little something missing from the lows but nothing substantial

Weakness:

at the price point....PLEASE! Goodbye Monster

First of all build quality on these speaker cables is top notch, flexibility and ruggedness in the same sentence. I replaced my monster XP wire with the Canare Quadlink Bi-wire from cable solutions and my speakers are probaly saying thank you. They really openend up, the highs and the lows. With the monster xp wire my speakers sounded "muddy" and didnt realize it until i hooked up the canare wires. All in all at the price i paid and the quality of the product i got i am truly satisfied, and would recommend these cable to everyone, well probaly not the people with huge amounts of money to spend on cables that cost more than my system, but you get my drift.

Strength:

Excellent sound, very reasonable cost -- $0.69 per foot (at http://www.markertec.com).

Weakness:

None that I can think of.

I recently upgraded by receiver/amplifier to a Rotel and wanted better cables than the Monsters on my old system. After reading several review I purchased the Star Quad 4s11 Canare cable from http://www.markertec.com, attached banana connectors, and replaced the Monster cable with the Canare. The sound of my system took a quantum leap. Everything sounded clearer, more present, fuller, and richer. I am totally pleased with the Canare speaker cable. My speakers (custom-made from Source Technology) are capable of biwiring, but I haven't tried that yet since one cable is 18 feet and I'm not sure 14 g. in the birwiring will sound as clean as the 11 g. that is now set up.

Strength:

Price...even less than Monster M''s and Z''s. Richens Bass and Mids, highs unaffected because of superior klipsch horn tweeter...will report more as time goes on..

Weakness:

Could have better Banana Plugs...basic gold crimp on kind. I will replace with WBT midline later.

Heartland Cables, Canare Star Quad Speaker Cable. They are a huge improvement. Of course I am comparing them to Classic Monster Cables. These cables are constructed using Canare''s outstanding 4S11 speaker cable which has (4) 14 guage conductors (effectively 11 guage!). Cool looking and performing cables. Although I have yet to really break them in. I even had to put my Monsters(I thought they were great) back in to compare. I wasn''t imagining. I am running through Klipsch KG1.5 speakers (small apartment) and noticed the difference immediately. Overall richer sound. Highs are not as much affected as the Klipschs are very bright in a good way. Mid''s felt richer, stronger...yes, the 1.5s can muster up SOME midrange, the cables enhanced the experience. Bass...whoa....I feel like I have new speakers. Tight bass..rich...from my little speakers. Very noticeable for music. Jazz and Classical sounds great..Vintage R&B...Marvin...Home Theater is enhanced, check out Sade Lovers Live-I think I am going deaf. I recommend these to anybody just getting into upgrading the cables. Big Mahalo goes out to Dan Kaps of Heartland Cables. I run a Yamaha HTR5250 integrated amp, Pioneer Elite DVD/CD changer, Klipsch Mains, Center, and Surrounds..(just getting started)Kimber KCAG interconnects.

I purchased a one meter pair from Markertek & hooked it up to my cheap 5-disc cd changer! Sounds great! Unlike the previous review, the bass & mids are great & there is a slight bit of rolloff in the treble- which in my room sounds just great! My changer is pretty bright & the Star-Quad cable tones it down to a very listenable level. For $28 these are hard to beat!
