    Strength:

Beautiful highs, smooth liquid mids, and deep tight bass

    Weakness:

    none

First let me say from the outset that I have no affiliation with Pure Silver Sound. I decided to try the PSS Quartets based solely on reviews read here in the hall of fame.
I began by replacing my CD interconnects (AudioTruth Emeralds) with the Quartets. I was shocked at how refined and gorgeous they sounded right out of the package. With 24 hours break-in they were astounding in every area especially the smooth and liquid mid-range. I never thought my NHT 2.5i's could sound so beautiful. My brother also bought a pair and he compaired them to his AudioTruth Diamonds. He said the Quartets were alot better. The highs were extended, The mids were smoother, and the bass much tighter and lower.
Now as for build Quality I give them 5 stars. The barrels are of locking style almost identical to WBT's. They have black plastic mesh over the silver braid which really finishes the cable off. If you are familiar with Silver Audio's silver Bullits 4.0 the Quartets are almost identical except at $139.00 for a 1 meter pair of Quartets they are a stone cold bargain. After you buy your 1st pair all subsequent pairs are 20% off! If you are looking for a high end cable at a low end price you must try Pure Silver sounds PSS Quartets. Check out www.puresilversound.com you will not be sorry.

I am enjoying the clarity of the silver.  The sound has been refined with amazing detail.  All frequencies have been polished with gripping bass, greater soundstage, crisper highs, and convincing voices.  I now can hear recording studioreflections that suggest room size in some CDs.... The cables have warmed up since my first listening session and I am enjoying a sound significantly more lifelike. The transparency of the Quartets will make it easier to refine my system components to my preferred sound. So far they are the best cables I have laid ears on.

    Strength:

Transparent sound, Excellent midrange and high frequencies.

    Weakness:

I have used Pure Silver Sound cables and interconnects in my stereo for nearly a year and find their sound to be stunningly addictive and transparent. Clearly, PSS cables/interconnects provide outstanding sound quality and I recommend them without reservation to others, particularly with tube amplification system. Frank will also customize orders to need; in my case creating custom speaker interconnects for the speakers themselves(couping the horns and subwoofers).

Set up: Avantgarde Horns/ Cary 300B Power.

    Strength:

Great sound at a great price.

    Weakness:

IC is unshielded, but no prob at short lengths

In Frank Steele's defense, he is swamped with orders because he has a great product at a great price -- and my experience
with him was very positive. Several months ago, I ordered 18 ft. IC's from him for a long run between my amp and pre-amp. I knew the Silver Sound Quartets were unshielded, and the extreme length might lead to interference problems. Sure enough, it did. Frank immediately accepted the returned cables without question, refunded my money, and made up a 1-meter set of Quartets (for use between my preamp and CD). They sound incredibly good, even compared to IC's costing hundreds of dollars more. The unshielded cable should not be a worry for any ordinary application, in my experience.

In the past month or two I've put together a new system, choosing the components almost exclusively based on reviews posted in AudioReview, so I figured it's my turn to contribute. My new system includes a Sim Audio Celeste I-5080 integrated amp, and a pair of Soliloquy 5.3 floorstanding speakers bi-wired with two pair of Analysis One 12 gauge speaker cables. My CD player is a Harmon Kardon FL 8300. The sound from this system was phenomenal; rich, clean, deep, transparent. Then I purchased the Pure Silver Sound quartet interconnects and let them break in for about 24 hours.
I just purchased the brand new California Guitar Tio "Rocks the West" CD, a live, acoustic recording, and put it on. The sound was simply breathtaking; it was as if the musicians were playing right there in my living room.
There's no doubt in my mind that the gorgeous sound emenating from my speakers is greatly contributed by the Quartets - cleaner stereo and instrument separation, richer, deeper, more crystalline sound, more spacious soundstage. I think the whole system (and the beautifully recoded CD)contributes to these qualities, but for $120.00 what the quartets' add is an excellent value. The Analysis One speaker cables, too, are superb, it would be interesting to compare them to the Pure Silver Sound sextets. Also, I can't say enough about the vitues of the Sim Audio amp and the beautiful Soliloquy speakers. I'm going to be listening to a lot of music for a while....

this is a review of the Pss sextet speaker wire, not the quartet interconnect. the webmaster appears to have ignored my request to have the sextet space added to this site, so i am putting my review here. actually this will cover the pss products as a system, as i now own and am using the pss quartet interconnects, the pss sextet speaker wire, the silver bridge to connect the high & low binding posts on my monitor audio silver 5's, and the pss pure silver power cord. my final verdict - there is simply nothing better on the market, at any price. At least nothing that I have heard (and I have heard a lot) is better. Wow, who would have thought that silver was so smooth? these are very synergistic with the rest of my system, which I built to be extremely acurate and detail oriented. the only problem is this tended toward bright sound that induced listening fatigue, especially at high volumes. the pss products have elimitated that completely. brass instruments no longer dominate the music when they enter and violins no longer sound like they are being played with steel strings. the only drawback (if you can call it that) is that on a regular basis I have to yell across the room to be heard by my wife (or she has to yell at me) - then i realize that i have been listening at very high volume and did not realize it. part of what contributes to this is the lack of compression the wires exhibit. so, I turn up the volume during the soft passages (because they are softer than I am used to), but then the loud passages are louder than I am used to also, so the volume, especially on music that starts softly & ends loudly will be much louder during peaks and crescendo's. but, again, the sound is so smooth & non-edgy that i never notice it until i either turn it off or try to talk to someone while the music is playing. plus, I paid less for the entire silver wire system from PSS (2 pair of interconnects, 12 foot pair of speaker wire, silver bridge, and silver power cord) than I would have paid for a single pair of 1 meter silver interconnects from Audioquest (Audioquest Diamond - $950) so, I am one happy camper - music now sounds like it was made by real flesh and blood musicians, not digitized plastic copies of musicians. and isn't that what it is really all about?

    Strength:

    Detailed & Transparent

    Weakness:

The cable is detailed and transparent. It's value for money.
In terms of performance, it's comparable to the Sapphire. It's highly recommended.

I think Frank is having a hard time coping with the orders pouring in. I placed an order in March and did not receive the 2 interconnects until mid-April. Frank did not replied the e-mails I've sent and I thought I've been conned. Frank finally replied my email stating he has shipped out my order .

For the cable, I gave 5 stars for value and performance but for the service, I gave 1 star.

    Strength:

Detailed sound but neutral and smooth

    Weakness:

There is not much I can add to the reviews posted on this side but I nevertheless wanted to underline how wonderfull these interconnects are.

I also noticed the disappearance of two recent bad reviews concerning the service provided by the company and even though I also regret that some of my mails were never returned I only had to wait for a couple of weeks to receive my PSS Quartet (NB: I live in Germany!). This can be the result of the success of this one-man (I think) company...
By the way,I have no connection with PSS.

Although it may sound as the standard cliché, well-knowned cd's now sound so much better! And forget about so-called brightness and lack of bass of silver.

The Quartett really transformed the music: smoother, relaxed and refined but with more details.

I have had the opprtunity to compare the Quartet with very expensive similar products: no audible difference at all...and I tried very hard to hear something.

Great to hear and listen to a product that does make a beautifull and musical difference.

    Strength:

balance, details, harmonic richness, tonal accuracy, great bass

    Weakness:

imaging is a bit long to open up

Few interconnects have the bag of qualities of the quartet.
I have the occasion to compare it to the more expensive Harmonic Technology Pro Silway mkII and to the more affordable dh labs bl1 series II. All 3 interconnects are good overall performer. The dh labs is very consistent performer in his price range, the biggest strength being its extented frequency range, with even balance trougthout the spectrum. The Pro Silway mk2 is even better, having similar extented frequency range, but delivering a clearer soundstage. The quartet is about as good as the pro silway mk2, the mk2 having better imaging capability, while the quartet being more detailed. With the quartet, tonal accuracy is outstanding. And contrarily to the many other silver interconnects, the quartet delivers outstanding full, deep yet articulated bass, the treble being not too bright(like the kimber kcag).

I find the quartet to be one of the most balanced and natural sounding interconnect (good speed, goog tighness and precision, harmonic richness, perfect timbre, articulation). It is hard to found any weekness but i found the burning time to be quite long (the soundstage finally opened up the the third month). The cable is also unsheilded.

Like the dh labs, the quartet is easy to match with other interconnects. Personnaly, i found the quartet to be more impressive when used directly on the source (like a cd player). It is effectively on the source that a more detailed interconnect like the quartet has the more impact. Between amp and preamp, i slightly prefer the dh labs bl1 series II wich is a bit more extented, airy and having a slightly more open and extented top end. (Dh labs bl1 makes a great match with my bryston amp).

I find that the pss quartet (on source) and the dh labs (between amp and preamp) to be a very cost effective combination (outstanding bass, neutral and very detailed, very accurate timbre, open and detailed soundstage). The quartet also makes a great duo with the pro silway mk2, the pro silway mk2 being used on the cd player this time.

    Highly recommended.

Wow. From the moment I hooked these up, my music sounded more balanced, accurate and true. From choral music to '70s rock, these made a HUGE difference in my "beginner audiophile" system without requiring a HUGE investment. This is the best $120 I've spent so far on my system.

I'm sure I'll keep upgrading my components over the years, but I can't imagine parting with these half-meter interconnects. In fact, I just ordered Pure Silver Sound bridges for my integrated amp and biwire speakers, and I'm saving to purchase some speaker cables from them.

Try these interconnects. If you like a true, accurate, even sound, you won't be disappointed.
