People, if you are looking to buy a pair of entry level interconnects - and your system is fairly revealing - you can't go wrong with these. I don't know if the detractors on here have not-so-revealing systems or had defective cables, but these things trounced other entry level cables I had (Audioquest Turquoise, Monster 400i, MIT Terminator2). They were more revealing, clearer, and made the other cables sound flat and two-dimensional. I now use Kimber Timbres and Zu Wyldes, and really like them both.

Sorry fellows this cable does not live up to the hype. This is the most constricted, thinnest, and absent of truly low bass that I heard.Build quaility left a lot to be desired. the rca connector is quite flimsy. you could crush it by just a moderate amount of squeezing After 2 wks. of break-in I gladly sold them. The Radio Shack golden ends and yes the Monster Cable 400 i,and 550 and (Ixos 1014 or 1004 show how to build a twisted pr.interconnect) and MIT Terminator 3 stomp this thing to death..

All of the above interconnect are far better than the PBJ's. I base this on transparency, full frequency response depth id image and focussing ability (especially the IXOS

Personally I think Kimber Cable was out to make a quick buck with disappointing low
achiever. Yuck!

Strength:

-Very bright hights without any harshness.
-Upperclass mid's unheard at this price.
-Neutral, wide and open soundstage "almost 3 dimensional".
-Fast sounding, no smearing in the low frequenties.
-Price!!

Weakness:

-Doesn't dig deep in the low freq.
-The standard Kimber connectors s*cks, you've have to pay more to get WBT's.
-Don't use this cable with bright sounding systems to avoid overly hights.
-Unshielded. Could pick up some hum from tv sets etc.

For it's price: this is a bargain! The Kimber PBJ sounds very natural. The HF is extremely clear without harshness. The mid's are upperclass at this price point. The only minor is the LF: this cable doesn't dig deep in the lows. The PBJ sounds fast and there's no smearing. The soundstage is wide and open, almost 3 dimensional. It doesn't make you're sytem warmer or brighter, i find this cable neutral sounding.
I use this cable between my Sony amp and sacd player (new es series) and B&W old 7 series loudspeakers. I have tried many cables (VDH, Nordost, Monster, Ixos) but nothing beats this one. I think....no realy believe there's no better cable out there at this price.

Strength:

Soundstaging, dynamics , exceptional midrange

Weakness:

Unshielded construction does cause problems in a noisy environment. I had to move my setup away from yhe TV to reduce very audible noise.

Excellent on vocals: Male and female. Very good micro and macro dynamics. Exceptional soundstaging and creamy smooth midrange. Dynamics helps to liven up dull systems. Compared to Audioquest Ruby the PBJ has a lot less grain and soundstaging is also better. Sounds much more alive and communicative compared to Audioquest Quartz.

Strength:

Very detailed and open soundstage just sounds "right"

Weakness:

absolutely none

I really love this cable. I have recently compared it to some other cable costing the same price and it was amazing how much better the PBJ sounded. It had way more detail and a much better soundstage. I didn't believe that much in the sound of cables untill I did this recent comparison. I have been doing a lot of critical listening lately because I have been tweaking and upgrading my homebrew Bottlehead vacuum tube preamp. The PBJ really lets you hear the subtle differences when I am tweaking my preamp. I would love to hear Kimber's new Timbre cables. I can't express how much I am enjoying this cable right now except to say that with this other $80 cable I really didn't even like how my system sounded and couldn't listen to music very long. With the Kimber in I LOVE my system and am really proud of the tube preamp I built with my own hands. Kimber is highly recommended.

Strength:

none

Weakness:

everything

Kimber PBJ is most peoples first taste of "high end" cable and they usually try it to replace some monster or factory cables and are really shocked at the improvement...which it is over junk....but for the price save yourself some money and buy Radio Shack Fusion cables, they are much much better than PBJ or even Hero at a true fraction of the cost. PBJ's look nice, cool colors and nice looking braid but thats about it

Strength:

They will open the sound up as an upgrade.

Weakness:

Neutral and a little slow maybe. Didn't feel the music got colored so if your looking to kick some life in your system avoid but they will open the sound as an upgrade.

They do the job well. They are a good reliable cable and these could very well be for you. But I can't praise them. I think you get your money's worth but that's it. I feel there is better out there like Nordost. I'm being jard on them, so don't get me wrong, like I said they do the job very well. I guess they are a very neutral cable because they failed to thrill, they present what's given them. So in that respect it's very good. But I felt the cable also was alittle slow, so no thrill factor. At entry level, it's hard to beat, but I feel Nordost are better. I don't feel these cables will change a system so if your looking for a little more openness these cables should fit the bill for the price but if you feel you need to kick your system look elsewhere.

Strength:

Construction. Aren't they pretty? They match my 4TC Speaker cables. If I was to be asked what's the first word that comes to mind in terms of sonic improvements, it would be clarity.

Weakness:

Unshielded but twisted construction appears to work well as I haven't noticed any interference.

Having bought a Sony SACD player, I was forced to use analog cables once again for music. For the most part, I was very happy with the performance of my system through my digital PCM connection. I had a pair of Monster Interlink 300's but was very unsatisfied with it's performance. There was a nasally effect to voices and the soundstage was not very wide. I bought the PBJ's as it's replacement and I couldn't be happier. It not only removed that nasally effect and added more clarity and airiness but also opened up the soundstage quite a bit. Now the guy at the stereo shop I bought it from said if I liked these, then I should really like the Hero or Silver Streak. However, the price becomes too high for the sake of cables...I think. These worked very well. My System: http://laureano.dyndns.org:81/hifi.htm
