Remote features, no binding posts

Picked this up for 150$ at Best Buy along with a pair of Sony speakers to use as a secondary stereo. All controls are straight forward, everything operates like it should. I was dissapointed with the remote though. It has controls for several components but only Sony stuff which is annoying because I have a JVC CD player. FM reception is great in my area, even with the cheap little antenna that came with the unit. Overall, its an excellent value. However, with the absence of binding posts and some other minor complaints, I am giving it a 4.

TOO LOUD FOR MY HOUSE!

FIRST OFF IT`S AN EXELLENT PRICE ( £100 ) - YOU CAN`T EVEN BUY AN RDS TUNER FOR THAT PRICE. I WAS GONNA BUY ANOTHER MIDI BUT THIS IN COMBINATION WITH A 5 DISC SHERWOOD CDC 680 IS CHEAPER THAN MOST MIDI`S AND , BELIEVE ME, HAS A FAR BETTER SOUND. MY 4 SPEAKER BALANCE WAS SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT ALSO, BUT YOU MUST EXPECT THAT WHEN EACH PAIR HAS A DIFFERENT RESISTANCE RATING (!)

THE TUNER IS SUPERB AND IT LOOKS PRICEY - LITTLE SILVER OPTION BUTTONS. AS I SAID, IT DELIVERS POWER - PLENTY FOR MY SMALL ABODE ( POOR NEIGHBOURS ).

GREAT PRICE AND FEATURES. FRANKLY, I WOULDN`T WANT TO PAY ANY MORE FOR AN AMP AND RDS TUNER!

Not too many features, just power, but heck, that's what it's for.

I'd have to say, that for 140 bucks, this thing rocks the house. It has true power, yet its THD is a little high. Yet for that mere 140 dollars I am impressed. I wish there were more ECONOMICAL amplifiers such as this one on the the market. Not all of us need every reciever to have DOLBY DIGITAL or what not... Good job sony.

POWER!!!!Good looks, Versatility

Weak remote!!

I just bought this baby yesterday at Best Buy for $109(before taxes) as an open box, took it home in great anticipation, hooked it up and was blown away by its raw power. I live in an apartment and I wouldn't dare push it past three on the volume meter because this thing kicks!!! It handles my DVD, Playstation, VHS, TV and Minidisc like a trooper. The only downside to it is the weak remote supplied, but I guess that's why they make universal remotes huh? For a little over $100 I couldn't go wrong and you can't either for whatever price you pay for yours. Sony, once again great job!!!

Excellent price, high power, good quality

Boring display, remote needs more function

I bought this as I began my move from integrated stereo systems to components, and have been entirely thrilled with the performance of this unit. The power is phenomenal; I can't turn the volume anywhere above four before it becomes an issue where I don't want to offend the neighbors with obnoxiously loud music.

The remote's functionality was a bit interesting. Since I intended to buy a Sony CD Changer along with my reciever, it wasn't a big deal to me, but if I had other manufacturers' components, I'd be a bit disappointed with the remote control. One thing that is annoying to me with the remote is that it only allows you to change the preset channels rather than physically change the tuner. It would be nice to be able to change the tuner, other than just between the presets, from the remote control.

But, for the price paid, all in all, I'm happy.
