Strength:

Decent value for money. Separation good. Surround sound decent.

Weakness:

Awful manual. Using a sharp object to hit the switch to turn on the center speaker a little odd. AM reception poor (as in all Kenwoods). Large unit.

For a "first up" surround system - not bad...certainly for the price. Dolby works fine and videos come to life nicely. Decent power. Manual was translated poorly - You'd think that after 30 years of U.S. business - the writing would be cleaner..

This is more of a warning then a review. This reciever came with the Spectrum system by Kenwoood, and it is without a doubt the dirtiest A/V
reciever that I ever put my ear to.And no It was not broken because I heard another one too and they were both new.Not to put Kenwood down I have a amplifier from the same system and it's fine. But if you see this reciever or the Spectrum system pass it by.A word to the wise.
