ROTEL RC-1082 Preamplifiers

ROTEL RC-1082 Preamplifiers

DESCRIPTION

Rotel understands the importance of keeping the signal as pure as possible all the way through the electronics chain. We achieve that goal by carefully selecting the components that go into our electronics and in the design of the circuit topology itself. While the RC-1082 is designed for the hi fi purist in terms of absolute musical fidelity, it is also a very flexible design and accommodates up to nine source components including a low noise, high overload MM/MC phono stage with discrete differential input stages, CD, tuner, two tape inputs and three auxiliary inputs. There’s also a media player input located on the front panel to accommodate MP3 players. In addition to its generous input capabilities, Rotel’s RC-1082 is a custom installation friendly device and may be controlled from a remote access point via its RS-232 interface or IR input. The preamplifier includes further features such as a detachable AC cord, discrete on/off remote control command codes and a full-function remote control. Musical, accurate, and accommodating, the RC-1082 preamplifier is the perfect choice for audio enthusiasts seeking the best in hi-fi performance

Strength:

This pre is the last of Rotels analogue amplifiers. The sound quality is as good as it gets. It's a pleasure to listen to no matter the source. This is the last of it's kind so if you happen to find a used one for sale and try it out. This is high end audio at a very low price used. It's remote is intuative, with a easily set volume control.

Weakness:

Only open ended rca connects.

I purchased the RC-1082 after trying the NAD and Parasound, slightly less expensive preamps. The Rotel was worth the extra couple of hundred. Excellent value actually. Hard to find a preamp that suits my taste for less than 3K.

Has a robust full-range sound including a deep bass. Tone controls are very functional and effective. I use this with my Bryston 4B-SST2 and Stratus Gold-i speaker system. After a lot of experimenting I have finally settled on this preamp. No pressing desire to change or upgrade.

I purchased this to replace an older Rotel preamp and was blown away by the improvement:
Greater detail and sound stage, vastly improved dynamics. It cost $1000, but my system sounded it like I ghad spent a great deal more
