Electrocompaniet EC 4.8 Preamplifiers

Electrocompaniet EC 4.8 Preamplifiers

This is a new preamplifier with better performance than the well known EC 4.7, and is planned to fill our need for a more advanced preamp in a higher price range. The new preamp is designed as a slimline version, with a fully balanced electronic solution from input to output. It is designed as two separate mono preamplifiers, both with its own power supply.

Incredible frequency response. Can play low down and upper frequencies effortlessly
Musical, not tiring at all
Delivers detail without "screaming" at you.
With correct cable & speaker matching, you get a huge soundstage

Generic remote control more for use in the AV products. Have lots of unnecessary buttons
Basic functions (volume and input selector) - some people may want more gimmics, but it is not really required.

Beautifully designed and manufactured piece of equipment. Feels and look like the quality that it should be at the price.

It is not cheap, but I heard a direct comparison with the entry level EC integrated amp where it destroyed a highly rated and 4x more expensive power amp from another manufacturer.

There are equipment out there that may deliver a more detailed sound, but if this pre amp delivers a sound that you can listen to for a long time (even CD's) without the digital fatigue that I learned to associate since the days that we were brainwashed to believe that CD is better than vinyl (just maybe more convenient). This pre-amp helps to restore a bit of the musical magic associated with vinyl.
