Strength:

Very clean sound, great design

Weakness:

Could use a remote

This was an upgrade from the HK3250. I'm very pleased with the move to Rotel.
The sound is very clean, I can hear another layer of detail that my old amp was hiding with noise. Works very well with B&W 601's.
The front panel design is very clean and I like the tone-off option to avoid the circuitry.

The downsides are: that it is low on power but I'd be willing to compare it to amps with three times the wattage rating; there is no outlet in the back for other components (arghh); finally, a remote option would be nice, even if sold seperate.

Overall, excellent value but there are always areas for improvement.

Strength:

Very clear middle and high tones

Weakness:

no remote controll

This amp is the first hi-fi amp that I ever bought. I use it in combination with a rotel 930AX-cd player and Rega alya speakers. I am very pleased with this combination. The amplifier is very basic, it has no remote controll and it looks a bit outdated, but the sound is great. The middle and high tones are bright, the bass is modest, but very sharp. It depends on what kind of music you like, whether or not this amp is the one for you. For classical music, but also for drum'n bass music this is a great amp. When you like to listen to heavy metal and other bass-prone music, I would advise to buy something else.
For me this amp is great: not to expensive (approx. $325), and I get to re-discover all my old cd's again!

I compared it to a NAD amp of the same price class

Strength:

Nice and simply design, bass, mid/high. Power is enough for almost all "little" speakers. Nice sound.

Weakness:

Hm.... where is remote?

Speakers: B&W 601 S1
CD: Marantz CD 67SE
Tara Labs Omni cabels

I don't know what to say about this wonderfull inetgr. amp. It is good with bright and crispy speakers, like B&W 601 S1. It give lot of bass. Maybe it need some CD player with little more bass, but with transparency of mid/high.

Best buy for me in entry level of high end.

Strength:

slim and thoughtfully-laid front and back panel, good finishing and great build, price per watt, toroidal transformer for a 'budget' amp (USD260,)defeatible tone controls

Weakness:

lack auto-mute on powering-up (protection circuit for speaker 'thum') unmarked/unlit control knobs, no IR remote

This is my first hifi buy ever. With recommendations and a helping hand from my brother, i chose the RA-931 Mk.II (I preferred the sounds of the RA-971 Mk.II, sweet and punchy bass, but I was on a limited budget)

Decent amp. with enough power to spare for my smallish dwelling [placed in living room, 18(d)x18(w)x12(h)ft] Can't drive past the 11 o'clock position. too loud already. I like the way it sounds at the 9:30 ~ 10 o'clock position.

Bass is 'acceptable' (I'm on bookshelf louspeakers)and the mids/highs are really engaging. Vocals are very very well bahaved and s. In fact that's a really good plus for the RA-931 Mk.II when it comes to clear unrestrained voice jobs. Rod Stewart's For The First Time sounded superb and was total enjoyment for me. For some low bass recordings, i'll put the tone controls to work and the gentle increment of the bass (and treble) contrlo will supplement the lacking bass nicely (+/- 6dBs)

I'm a beginner in hi-fi and my comments may not be 'professional/critical' enough for some.

Value for money.

My equipment;
Rotel RA-931 Mk.II
Marantz CD4000 CD Player
Rogers LS1 'bookshelf' loudspeakers
Audioquest Ruby interconnects
unbranded 14 gauge speaker cables
