Strength:

Crisp clean sound
Compact unit
More power than it's rated at

Weakness:

Bright sounding
Difficult to find a delar who has one to demo before purchase
No separate Bass/Treble control

I purchased this integrated amp based on reviews, as I could only order it from the dealer (they didn't have one on display). I used it with a pair of Paradigm Mini Montor's in an averaged size living room. The sound quality is quite good: Tight powerful bass, balanced mids. My issue with this amp is it tends to be a bit bright. Unfortunately, Rotel has cut costs buy removing separate Bass and Treble controls, and replaced it with a "contour" control. You can increase bass by 2 settings and treble by one setting, or bass and treble together. However, with this limited tweaking, I couldn't make the treble blend very well. Paradigm Mini monitors tend to be a bit forward to begin with, but paired with this particular amp, I became fatigued rather quickly. You need to be careful in choosing speakers with this particular integrated amp. I would really have like the separate controls as Rotel used to have on earlier models, I think I could have balanced the tone to be acceptable.

Strength:

Clean sound, soundstage, well built, remote is just fine for the price. Wait until you hear it turn on and off.

Weakness:

No optical.

I got the Rotel RA-1062 not too long ago, to replace my Sansui AU-X701, 80's model. The Sansui sounded powerfull(100W) and had an allright soundstage but the Rotel was just out of the price range for the time being. I also have a 5.1 channel reciever which had better soundstage than the Sansui and I was looking at recievers for a while, but since I was interested in high quality two channel audio I bought the Rotel. The speakers I currently have are Infinity Primus 360 hooked up to the Rotel and Yamaha DV-95750 CD/DVD player. The difference was overwhelming: bass became tighter more controlled, and not as boomy, midrange(Christina Aguilera was in my room) The highs I am hearing things I have never heard before. I can't imagine how it's going to sound with Bowers and Wilkins 603's and the Rotel RCD-1072. I can't wait to get the other components. the RA-1062 was the first HI FI component in my system.

Strength:

Obviously the quality of the sound is a major strength and the reason for the purchase. Some of the others things I really like are the slim profile, the elegant look of the black face plate and most of all the ease and logic of set up and use. The remote is very simple and straight forward making it easy to work with in a dimly lit room.

Weakness:

The only weakness I can think of is that when you adjust the volume with the remote control it moves in too large of steps so sometimes I just have to get and adjust it via the volume knob on the unit

I have been listening to this amp and its cousin the Rotel 1072 CD player for about 3 weeks now and have been nothing but pleased with the equipment.

I am listening through a pair of the Paradigm Studio 40s V3, prior to the Rotel I was using the Denon DRA 395 receiver and the Denon 280 player. I had been the Denon was holding back what my speakers could deliver, that has certainly been what I found. In fact its almost like I got a new and improved pair of speakers for free.

I'm hearing things I never heard in my CD collection before, and this is listening at low to moderate levels. Before I make the purchase I listened to the Creek Evo, althought it sounded nice it just couldn't compare to the Rotel especially when you figure it was over $200 more per piece.

Strength:

Big amp sound from 60w per channel. Handles the 4 ohm load of my maggies very well. Contour switch is great for late night listening.

Weakness:

At this price point, none!

I had no idea that a new amp could make susch a difference in my system.
My previous amp was a Rotel RA 820BX3, which had served me well for more than 15 years ! I have two sets of speakers: Advent 2s which were recently refoamed for the second time, and Magnepan SMGa's which were rewired a couple of years ago. So you can see that I'm not the type to constantly change equipment. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

This new amp is quieter, more dynamic, and has helped me discover a whole new bottom end on my SMGa's. I won't repeat what other reviewers have stated, but this amp is a tremendous value and with a 5 year warranty, you can't lose.

Strength:

Truly high-end sound Tremendous dynamic and rhythmic verve Generous features Remote control Bullet-proof construction Gorgeous looks and thoughtful ergonomics

Weakness:

Absolutely none at $699

The RA-1062 proves once again that Rotel is the king of the budget integrated amplifier. At $699, it does everything right and it possesses many of the qualities associated with gear that costs several times as much. This is one of those units that is just always a pleasure to sit down with- it never ceases to surprise you with its stunning dynamics and deep, well-defined bass that belies its tame "60W" output. Its sound is exceptionally balanced, detailed, neutral, quiet, dimensional, and, most importantly, very involving. While some might initially find its sound to be just a bit forward or bright, it is never "fatiguing", and even so the "contour" feature allows a little EQ tweak for the late night session or problematic recording. The 1062 has an immediate, lively, and robust sound that always holds your attention, with no gimmicks attached. The built-in MM phonostage is exemplary- you may not need anything better unless your main source is vinyl. It also pairs well with a variety of speakers. Under the hood is found a very straightforward and clean topology, including a massive, custom-built toroidal transformer. On the outside is a gorgeous yet functional, solid, and understated layout, with nice blue LED lighting. As with all Rotel components, build quality is top-notch. A good remote control for volume, input, and power, completes the picture (it also controls a Rotel CD player). All in all the RA 1062 is a whopper. If you can score its predecessor, the RA 972, for under $300 (used, obviously), the 1062 may not be worth all the extra cash, as the 972 is fairly close in sonic virtues. However, is the latest offering worth $699? Absolutely. MM phono stage and remote control were both options on its predecessor. You'd have to spend upwards of $2000 to hear a palpable edge on this full-featured, price-to-performance killer.

Strength:

Solid build, warm sound and the best 60 watts I have ever heard!

Weakness:

Not at this price point.

Great amp! I have it paired with the RCD1072. The perfect combo for only $1,400. I had rotel amps before and came back after I sold my Krell 400xi. Krell was great but I listen to lower volumes and the Rotel has the contour knob to add a it of boost at lower levels. It just sounds full and clean. I will not "upgrade" for awhile!

Strength:

Excellent presentation. detailed sound. very enjoyable listen

Weakness:

sounds strained at higher volumes.

This is a review for the Rotel RA-1060, which is the predecesor to the RA-1062. They are quite similar, only a few changes (upgrades) for the 1062. After a longer than average run in, (I usually allow more than 150 hours before any critical listen) the sound is excellent. very detailed, almost clinical - which I like. even at low volumes, all of the detail comes through. at comfortable listening levels, (about 9 o'clock on the volume dial) the sound is very good, forward with a good soundstage. At higher volumes however, the amp starts to sound a little strained. it still sounds good, with detail, but the treble starts to sound somewhat brash. The mids and bass are still very good, being able to draw decent bass at louder volumes from the CDM1NT's (a bookshelf speaker, not exactly known for bass outut) If you enjoy sitting and listening to jazz or clasical (or even rock or trance) at moderate levels, give this amp strong consideraton. If you're looking for a louder amp for parties or whatever, find something with a little more power

Strength:

Huge, voluptuous, unfatiguing, involving, dynamic sound. Sounds seriously expensive, but isn't.

Weakness:

Chintsy remote. Low street cred from the pre-power brigade.

After the outstanding success of my Rotel RCD-1072 purchase a few months back ( see review on this site ) I decided it was time to take a close look at its stablemate, the RA-1062 integrated amp. This amp was voiced by Rotel together with the RCD-1072 so expectations were high. The dealer demo was very positive, so I took the plunge. What follows obviously refers specifically to this Rotel pairing. The RA-1062 replaced an aging but worthy Pioneer A400 - widely regarded as one of the outstanding budget audiophile amps of all time, though designed for the UK market and never exported to the US. Out of the box the Rotel sounded quite impressive, but relentless and a bit aggressive - rather like my RCD-1072 before it had a chance to settle into its stride. Left on for the obligatory 48 hour burn in, its true potential became much more apparent. What first impresses most about this amp is the shear scale of the sound. Even at modest volumes the little Rotel seems to stretch and expand the music to fill my large listening room. This phenomenon does not appear to be program-dependent: you are nearly always aware of this huge, enveloping, very "live" sound. A couple of first class live rock recordings served to demonstrate this superbly - Frank Zappa's "Make a Jazz Noise Here", and Little Feat's terrific reissue of "Waiting for Columbus". In both instances the performance simply oozes drama, scale and excitement. The story is repeated with large scale orchestral and choral works. The next most obvious trait is dynamics. Used with my 4 ohm floorstanding KEF's there is tremendous rhythmic drive. With Rock drums timing is excellent and there is a real propulsive push to the music. Bass extension, too, is there in spades. With well recorded electric bass guitar you are aware not just of the notes being played, but of the impact of the instrument on its surroundings, and the subtle rhythmic inflections of the player's style. Power is there in abundance - certainly more than enough to keep my relatively efficient speakers happy. Sound quality holds up beautifully at high volume but, just as importantly, dynamics are preserved at low listening levels as well. Unlike some "exciting" amps, the Rotel doesn't rely on highly etched treble detail to impress you. Instead, the overwhelming treble impression is one of smoothness. At first I found this a little disconcerting, as I was used to the more superficially exciting treble presentation of my A400. After extended listening though, I am confident Rotel has got it just about right. Cymbals and exotic percussion seem to reveal more of their true character through this amp - their dynamics and decay are beautifully captured and you simply have a better sense of hearing the complete character of the instrument. Most important of all, the Rotel's presentation is totally unfatiguing, whilst managing to be completely involving at the same time. A very nifty feat IMHO! Anyone who has especially polite or treble reticent speakers should however listen very carefully before purchase ( you do this anyway don't you?!)as I could imagine in some systems the Rotel might just sound a little dull. Build quality is on par with the RCD-1072, which is to say WELL above average for the price. The casework is very decent and there are good quality speaker binding posts, but what really impresses is the inside. There's a seriously chunky Rotel built toroidal transformer, UK sourced 10,000uf T-network capacitors, decent positive-acting switchgear and lots of high grade minor components too. Unfortunately, like the RCD-1072, the remote looks cheap and nasty (although it works well enough and controls basic functions of the CD player and some other Rotel components).

Strength:

5 year warranty, price, looks, sound and value.

Weakness:

None for its category.

I have read many reviews on this integrated amp and they are all very positive. I was not planning to buy this amp but happened to see it when it arrived at the dealer and fell in love with its looks. The silver model is gorgeous because of the contrast with the black handles. From a sonic perspective, it's not the best integrated amplifier ever made but what do you expect for $999 canadian. On the other hand, there's nothing wrong with the sound of this amp. It does everything well, from highs to lows. I particularly like the fact that it doesn't have video inputs which means that all of Rotel's effort went into the sound and it has paid off.
