Strength:

(for the price) clean,transparent,fantastic soundstage

Weakness:

too transparent for raw materials like grunge etc.

I purchased C340 after reading rave reviews about it. After burn the electronics for 200 hours roughly, the thing shines. It's very natural and transparent, 3-D soundstage, clean, smooth and quiet. For the money, I am happy. My CDs sound more musical now!

My modest music system:
NAD C340 integrated amp (use interconnect for connection pre out - main in)
Harman Kardon HD7600 CD Player
Polk audio RT5 on 2' stands
Kimber Kable 4TC speaker cable
Audioquest Turquoise IC

Strength:

great sound, great value, rock solid

Weakness:

none that i can see

This amp is an absolute steal at this price. It beat out (to my ears anyway) some other units that I've heard at twice the price. The sound is very rich and full -- very confident. I think the forty some very positive reviews agree.

Strength:

solid bass response (never boomy!).

Weakness:

A Slight problem accurately identifying some instruments on some recordings (usually in the High Frequency area). recordings

This little integrated produces one hell of a nice bass response (and that's important to me). I'd even compare it to the legendary 3020. But, I really felt that the bass was a little bit cleaner on this amp. Enough about the bass already! The mid/upper range frequency repsonse is also phenomenal. I'm hearing instrumental detail that I could only imagine before. NOTE: For a short time I owned the NAD 314, but decided to trade it in for the C340 becasue it lacked "detail" in the bass area. the sort of detail you would expect to hear in a small Jazz club....and the C340 excels in this area! Actually Gets your heart to pumping. I feel that the high frequency response might might even be improved with better speakers. Unfortunately....that may be some time away for me.

I just purchased the NAD C-340 through Sound City for 320 dollars shipped. I can say nothing but excellent things about this product. I previously owned a Kenwood reciever and the sound of the NAD is astounding. It is warm, clean, detailed, and very clear. I have the NAD paired with the NHT 1.3A's and the speakers have never sounded better. I can actually now hear bass coming from the woofer! The treble and vocals are much more detailed, and the dynamics are astounding! NAD is a good match with any of the NHT product line because it is warmer and offsets the coolness of the NHT's. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants excellent sound at a very affordable price. Highly recomended for the most discriminating listener, at 320 dollars, you can't beat it!

Strength:

Excellent for the price

Weakness:

Hmm...the volume control

I was looking for an all-round budget amplifier and I was thrilled when I first listened to NAD C340. It was connected to a pair of Mission floorstanders and the result was excellent. Fluid vocal and deep bass, treble is natural and detailed without sounding harsh or bright, and excellent dynamics. I bought it immediately without much thinking since it was really cheap (I mean the price :>).
When I connected it to my two-year-old coda 7, the result was breathtaking. You'll be amazed how a low-priced system can perform when they are well-matched.
I am not really an audiophile since I don't have the MONEY to be one, but I am a music lover and I demand a high quality and revealing Hi-Fi system. I have also listened to other so-called hi-end systems in many showrooms. But I am really contented with my humble system now since they really sound wonderful despite the price, and they can stand up against systems that cost several times as much. The vocal has a great presence and the HF is clean and natural. The bass, though not the wall-shaking type, is well-defined, clean and fast. The system is not for the Rock'n Roll(sounding too refined for this genre), but if you're into acoustic music such as jazz and classical you'll be satisfied. And the NAD actually has the power to handle anything you throw into the CD player. Don't be fooled by the underrated 50W rating...
Yes, an excellent amplifier for the price and none of the others in this price-range can even come close. The only complaint goes to the quality of the volume control. When I plugged my Grado SR225 into the amp, I could noticed that the two channels were not in absolute balance as I turned up the volume. The soundstage would fluctuate when I move the volume knob. It's actually less noticeable when you listened to speakers, but it's still a flaw. I would like to ask NAD to improve on this issue in the future.
Anyway, you can't fault it for the price. Anyone who is really into music and is hoping to build a hi-endish budget system, this amp is a dream come true.

All I can say is, wow!! After upgrading from my old Technics SA-GX690, the increase in clarity was impresive. Most noticeably, bass became cleaner and much more defined.. Tended to be a bit bloaty with the Technics. I could actually really hear drum entrances and exits. It is whipping some major BOO-TAY with my infinity SM-255s... don't let the relatively low power rating (50w x 2) fool you.. this amp will tie speakers up with dental floss and show them who's the boss. I can't turn mine up above 30% without hurting my ears due to the volume. Very comfortable amp, nice, simple, all I can say is, GO-NAD!
hmm.. that sounds off somehow...

Strength:

Sounds much better than many £400 amps. Doesn't produce too much heat.
This amp sounds better now than when i first heard it 10 months ago.

Weakness:

The remote control is crap; i often have to move to another part of the room to use it!!

My previous amp was a Nakamichi amp 2. As soon as i hooked up the NAD 340 i could hear that it was of better quality than my Nakamichi amp. I highly recommend the NAD340. I was amazed at how a £300 amp could demonstrate the advantages of expensive interconnects over my Cable Talk Monitor 2 leads.

Non for its class

I've had this amp for a little over a year. It is a great amp to start with. I matched it with NAD's c520 player, B&W 603S2 speakers and DHLabs interconnects and biwires. I first heard NAD cd player/int amp combo at Butch's sound shack outside of Pittsburgh and loved it.

I've read the complete guide to high end audio and I hate using audiophile jargon. So I'm going to give an honest opinion.

I like to listen to a variety of music types and this amp is great but not good for all. It took three days of continuous playing to settle in. I had $40 interconnects from Monster (mids are way too muddy) at the time. As soon as I got DHLabs and more burn time, NAD came to life. The sound was balanced, forward and clear. Vocals and guitar rifts sound terrific! Piano pieces are great too. The bass from deep house and trance is tight, defined and warm and I always find myself turning the volume up. But when it came to classical music, it lacked detail. At times I had to turn up the volume just to hear it. I'm also a fan of jazz especially Miles Davis. When the cimbals crash, it's super harsh. I have to turn down the volume to enjoy it more.

Overall this amp has high value. I paid $320 new. I haven't heard another amp this good for the price. I've listened to more expensive amps like Arcam's at Stereo Exchange and just wasn't impressed. It's worth a serious demo at your local dealer especially if you are in the market for Japanese products like Denon and Rotel.

But if you plan on upgrading like me, I would just spend the money up front for a better amp and save money in the long run. Otherwise take the time to match components. It's all about putting together the best sounding system within your budget. And with proper research you can easily do it better than I did.

Strength:

Dep bass. It can be used as an pre-amplifier

Weakness:

¡I don't know!

I’ve used the C340 to handle the NHT Super One and Super Two, a pair Kef Q15 (small speakers) and a pair of Mission (with 4 drivers), the power of the amp is more than enough.

But for me the most important is the sound quality, the C340 has a 5 stars. A deep bass, clean medium, great image and smooth high frequencies. And the price is simply incredible, you can get it for less than $400.

My system:
Speakers: Kef Q15
CD Player: NAD C540
Sub: Boston Acouistics PV6000
Integrated amlifier: NAD C340
Cables: Apature (interconnect) and Phoenix Gold (speakers)

Similar Products Used:
