I have recently bought the NAD C320 to replace a Technics SU-A700Mk2, which I also thought to be a decent amplifier - until I used the NAD in my system! To me, the NAD sounds way above the Technics. Bass is deep and controlled, treble and mid very natural. The NAD is in a totally different league. However sometimes the sound can seem slightly soft or bland, but I think this is probably to do with the CD Player or speakers I am using. Overall I am amazed at the difference the NAD has made. Interestingly engough I also prefer the sound of the C320 to the more expensive C340. One concern I have is that I didn't hear a competing model, the Rotel RA-971 which has also received rave reviews, but was beaten in What Hi-Fi?(a UK publication) by the NAD, but received a 'Best Buy' tag in Hi-Fi Choice(another UK publication) whereas the NAD only received a 'Recommended' tag.

My System:
NAD C320
Sony CDP-561E CD Player (plus extra internal damping)
QED Profile Silver 12 Speaker Cable
Cable Talk Monitor 2 Interconnect.
Modaunt-Short MS30(self-modified!) Speakers

I chose this amplifier instead of C340 because of the huge difference in the price. I won't pay that much for 10 lousy watts. The C320 is good enough for me.

Strength:

Clean and crisp sound, natural and open. Plenty of punch.

Weakness:

Build quality could be a little better

This is the first seperate componant I bought and it sounds very good, it goes loud and yet stays clean. I started out using a cheap cd player combined with my old mini system speakers and I noticed the difference over the old mini straight away. The NAD could handle dance beats very well and I started to hear small details that I hadn't heard before. Then I bought a pair of B&W 601 S2 and the sound has opened up even more, they really show what the NAD can do.
The build quality of the C320 could be better but hey it stays together! Some sharp edges on the metal face plate that you have to watch. But it's the sound that counts and I'm pleased with this product. It doesn't struggle to play heavy music like my old Sony did and it is very punchy in the bass. If you're after a first system this is a very good place to start.

I've only ever owned a Sony mini system before buying this.

Strength:

clarity, dynamics, goes loud

Weakness:

none apart from drab NAD looks

I love this amplifier. It drives harder and cleaner than you have any right to expect for the price. Treble is sweet and clear and at high levels it never shrieks at you. Bass is very well extended and tuneful. Voices and instrumental timbres are delivered in a beatiful wide soundstage and you never feel as if anything is missing from the music. The amplifer may only have a modest 40 watts RMS per channel but a big torodial transformer in the power supply gives it awesome dynamic ability and increased clarity. NAD claims this thing is able to punch 160 watts into 2 ohms for dynamic swings - no mean feat.

Being a budget integrated, the C320 works well with ancillary equipment around its price level. But up the stakes and it won't be outclassed. I currently use a Rotel RCD-951 which sounds gorgeous through this amp. The dealer I bought it from even had a Musical Fidelity X-RAY hooked up claiming it sounded nearly as good through the NAD as it does with MF's own X-A1.

The C320 has won a heap of awards from hifi press around the world including a What Hifi best buy in 1998. The original 3020 was one of the most popular amplifiers in the world - I reckon this amp is destined to become a classic buy also.
