i have had the nad 304 for almost 2 years now, in the last two months its been used as pre. in the two functions the performance has been excellent. i don't think you can do beter for$400, in terms of musicality and flexibility.

I have had the 314 int amp for 1 year now and i can say it sounds better than any thing ive owned.I have had many high end preamps and they did not com close to the sound of the 314.To my ears it is crisp tight and clean, not to harsh in the highs, crisp and smooth in the mid,and tight and punchy in the lows. You have to match the components with any system.some component sound like crap together. But the 314,sounds excellent with all of my amps, krell, nad, and even sounds great with my napoleon tube amp.I give the 314 a 5

I purchased my NAD 314 amp 8 months ago and I think that it issonically far superior to my old JVC, the sound stage is
far more impressive, the bass & treble far more defined. All this for just 250£.

I love this small beast's sound! I find it warm, deep, natural and clearly detailed listening to my Audio Profiles PSL 88-6 (main pair) and Audio Profiles Mystere being added for the ambience. I am happy with the every penny I spent on this system. No bells and whistles for your buck, just music.(Please also see my NAD 512 Cd-player review.)

This review is actually for the NAD 304 integrated amp, which is the predecessor to the 314 and nearly identical. I happened to stumble upon my 304 when I was actually hunting for a preamp to go with my Rotel power amp. I liked the NAD so much that I ended trading in my power amp for it. I also ended up spending less money ($269 new) because it was a discontinued item. It's just a good versatile amp with plenty of power that can also be used as a decent preamp if you wish to upgrade to some more power.
Note: I think the retail price listed above for the NAD 314 should be $400, not $1000

I recently upgraded from a mass-market JVC receiver to the NAD 314 integrated amplifier. "Upgraded" is an understatement of the exponential leap in sound quality I am experiencing with the 314. In a nutshell:
- I hear bass! Maybe I didn't need that subwoofer after all.
- No more shrill highs! Even with a cheap CD player.
- Dynamics! Certain drum sections send a chill down my spine.
- Resolution! Those sounds weren't there before.
- An actual soundstage! Width and depth, instruments locatable in space - although alot depends on the recording.

I guess this isn't much of surprise considering my former amplifier. I am excited now to buy a a quality CD player. My Infinity speakers will remain.

Only downside of the 314 was a cheap cabinet, plastic face and cheesy buttons, but this may be the tradeoff for budget audiophile.

I am giving this amp 5 stars based on my limited experience. But everything I have heard rumored of the 314 seems to be true. High quality sound at a very affordable price (around $300 for me).

I've heard the 314 played with the 514 and B&W 601 speakers. It was one of the best setups I've heard for the value/performance ratio! It gives me goosebumps thinking about having the 314 soon in my own possession with my B&W 601's. I'm not sure of what CD player yet though. Any suggestions?
I hope you are all aware of the EDP technology in the 314 too. Quite innovative. It's just an overall innovative amp! I love it!

I upgraded from a technics HIFI(or low fi) amplifier. The first thing I noticed is the lack of a remote, I can live with that. The only light on the whole display is one LED for the power and the black nobs and buttons of the volume control and the bass and treble. The best feature of the amp is the TONE DEFEAT so you can listen to music as it was intended. The highs and lows are smooth as silk and no harshness whatsoever. The detail and the ambience of the sound is beautiful. The amp puts out a wonderful 35 warm watts per side and can handle 4 - 32 oHM speakers. I would really recommend that but for the $350-$500 buddget(depedning on where you live.
My setup consists of a Jamo 68 speakers, the Onkyo 7510 CD player(another beautiful bang for the buck I might add at $290) a NAD 5060 tape deck, the Jamo dbl 8"ported unpowered subwoofer, and a B and W 150 watt power amp. Using 12 auge monster cable.

I have been quite satisfied with my NAD 314, which I bought factory-reconditioned for $300. At list (@400) it's a great buy, at $300 it was a steal. A great way to get into high-end audio for the less-than-wealthy. My current system (NAD 512 CD player, NHT SuperOnes, OMC and 200 Interlink wiring it up) is less-than-perfect for my needs but I think my weakest links are the speakers (great in almost all aspects except depth of bass and richness) and the room. If I had a dedicated room and a powered sub, I'd be in heaven for less than many audiophiles spend on a single speaker. The NAD equipment has its limitations but all in all it is a terrific buy.

Great amp for the money. I've had one in my second system for almost 2 years now. The 314 is wonderfull!
Tip/Tweek: Use good interconnects to connect the preamp section to the amp. i.e. Transparent Music Link Basic $160 1m/pr.

I know, why spend almost half the price of the unit on a pair of interconnects?!

Why? because it works. Increased detail, larger soundstage, and best of all It creates a quiet link between the two sections (as if the two were really separated)
It sounds strange. But it really works.

Think about it, out of the box the pre/amp sections are connected via two fully exposed metal links. That is surely not an ample, nor accurate connection. I understand NAD had to keep the price down; but it would've been nice to see them include a pair to link the two together. (Like Audio Alchemy did w/ Tara Labs on there Ultra Dac).

But all in all for $400 it's a good buy. And great product for the money.
