Not sure if a NAD 3120 is the same as a NAD 312 but here goes anyway.I purchased my NAD 3120 about 12-13 years ago (new). It was a great purchase back then and it's still a great purchase now. I've never regretted buying it. I've run ALOT of different gear through it, and have always been pleased. Right now I have Yamaha CDC655 and a pair of Paradigm Studio 20's hooked up to it. Cleeeeeaaaan sound!

This is a wonderful little amp. I spent some time with it powering a pair of PSB Alphas. With a NAD or Rotel CD Player, one could easily build an excellent system for the staggering price of $900 - $1100 in Canada, or about $600 in the States. I even heard it sounding only slightly small on a pair of ESS that had 12" woofers. Some other good speakers to go with this amp would be the Incredible B&W DM302, DM601, smaller speakers from the KEF Q series, or even something from Totem. This amp is probably impossible to beat for the price. It also has a great phono pre-amp, and pre out/mains in sockets. Highly Recommended, especially if somone wishes to see for themselves what hame audio is all about.

I believe that this model has been discontinued. I picked up a demo model and have been very pleased. It is only rated at 25 wpc, but it is 25 clean watts. I can go louder on this amp than on my old Onkyo which was rated at 150 wpc. I also appreciate the simple styling and ease of use. NAD makes terrific amps, this little amp sounds very clean and tansparent. It also has a pre-out, so if you eventually need more power you can use it as a pre-amp, or bridged with a power amp for even more power. For the money you can't do much better than an NAD amp!

Strength:

Can deliver plenty of clean power when called upon to do so.

Weakness:

None

I've had my 312 for two year now I am in love with it. It drives a pair of PSB alphas through tara labs prism omni cable. The combination seems very neutral (the alphas tend to be a bit bright). I am particularly amazed at the control the NAD exhibits over the alphas at high volume.

Bought one used for $150. Teamed with Onkyo High end CD player and B&W DM601s.Very musical 25 watt amp. Can see why it was the HiFi Choice Best Buy.

I have listened to this integrated amplifier a number of times and have now purchased it. For the price it is unbeatable and in fact won out over amps that were higher priced (eg. Marantz PM57). I have teamed it with Kef Coda 7SE speakers and Cambridge Audio CD4SE with QED Qudos cables for a good reliable system that doesn't blow my budget.

Strength:

Good price, no useless buttons or lights, more power than you would expect looking the numbers

Weakness:

The bass is a little flat (escepcially with bigger speakers) and there is not remote controller.

I would recommend it to someone who wants maximum performance for minimun price. Don't use with too big speakers (for example Cerwin-Vega VS12)...

Strength:

Price, No Nonsense principles, Sound in general, WPC/price ratio.

Weakness:

Flimsy Buttons, Cabinet(both looks and build)

With this discontinued product you really get slam for the buck including a well dimensioned dynamic capability. This is not the only strenght of the 312. In my opinion it has a fairly well balanced sound with "warm" tendencies, and a nice open upper area. I recently hooked a pair of QLN 166 loudspeakers up on the 312 (www.qln.se), what an incredible difference from my old Dali 104. This really showed me the potential of the amplifier, although the 25 WPC wasn't quite enough to drive the Qln's up to anywhere near LOUD.

Conclusion: The 312 will be a companion of mine for many years to come, something i can't really say for other parts of my stereo. If you're short on money and need to buy a cheap second hand amplifier - i would suggest you consider the 312 (But watch out - people just don't seem to let go of these small monsters).
