I am very happy with my apmlifier. I listen many hours of music every week. The speakers used are B&W Matrix 804 speakers. For the kind of music I listen to ( Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, It is a great Speaker for. First the amp must be warmed-up properly before the sound is perfect. Good quality speakercables and interlinks are recuired.

This is a GREAT integrated amplifier! Compares very, very favorably to Class A Pass Aleph (I have both). Tube like midrange, warm articulate sound, full bass, low distortion. Plenty of power.

Needs warm up to give the cleanest treble (ever so slightly splashy when cold). Maybe not iron control of the absolute bottom end (Gallo Ref 3.1 speakers), but it's all there.

Great phono section, quiet, extended and detailed. Amp runs much cooler than the Aleph, which makes me think either the heatsinks are way oversized for the job or the amp is really only Class A for part of its power range. Certainly SOUNDS Class A to me!

I love everything about it, including its luxurious look and feel. No remote control but you can't always have everything. A truly excellent, classic piece of audio history!

upgraded from A2.the 25 more Watts of power made the bass deeper and tighter.highs and mids are better than A2 too.i should go for the A220 earlier.

Strength:

Sweet analytical On certain tracks it beats my mate £4000 maridian set up.

Weakness:

Don't try to unplug the speaker cables when drunk as the amps end up back at Musical Fidelity for fixing

I have really enjoyed my A220, however if you want more power then a pair of XA50 mono blocks can be used from the per outs for Bi Amping. Although the XA 50's are only 50 watts the gain is the same and you end up with all the head room you could need and it firms the bass.

Strength:

great looks and sound

Weakness:

none

One of the most enjoyable amps i''ve used -warm, detailed, powerful, not at all tiring to listen to unlike some ''class a'' amps. I''ve tried upgrading but keep going back to this amp. Looks & sounds great - if you can find one second hand it''s definitely worth a listen.

Strength:

Power, smoothness, bass, simplicity.

Weakness:

Runs warm/hot, though not as hot as a tube amp.

The A220 is a very capable if not the most refined amp. The Class A design gives it a tube-like sound without the electronic grain or harshness at the top end. Though it is not rolled off at the frequency extremes because it is solid state. The bass is surprisingly full and deep. The dynamics and control is definitely solid state. Music seems more alive than with the Parasound. And it sounds much more powerful than 50w. My Parasound is rated at 100w, and the A220 sounds much more powerful and controlled. Granted, the Parasound is a much older amp, but I really used to think it sounded pretty good. I have average efficiency speakers and things get really loud at about 3 or 4. Runs a bit hot for solid state. Overall, a very satifying and musical amp. Volume remote would be nice though.

I bought the slightly used one at Ebay and have been listening for last 10 months. I am not a professional for
audio system. But I feel the power is enough and the sound is warm as same as my previous int.amp,Marantz(very old one. I bought it 20 years ago).
I have a Yamaha amp. for theater system. But I don't listen
the music thru it. Because its sound is too sharp and not warm at all.

A good value; good build quality, attractive and good sounding amp. Enough power for average speakers.

Musical Fidelity A-2. This integrated amplifier is just the ticket for those fiscally challenged music lovers out there. Sound more powerful than it's specs
would indicate [25 wpc 8ohms, 50 wpc 4 ohms] it is one of the biggest musical bargains I have seen in some time. The sound is smooth and detailed without
without being dull, lifeless or veiled. Nice depth for the money spent. You
could spend alot more and get alot less. My rating may not seem that high but
keep in mind that I am comparing this unit to separates costing five and one half times this unit's $799 price. This unit is a must hear for those individuals whose pay is wasted on stuff like food and heat. I really could
exchange this unit for my separates and feel little sense of loss. Bravo!!

The A220 like the older A1 and A200 has an almost SE like timbre in the midrange. Sounded fine and poised driving LS3/5a .
When not asked to do too much, as in huge dynamic swings, high sound pressure levels, this amp can hold its own against any of the mid to slightly higher priced audiophile grade pre-power amps out there.

I liked it.
