Strength:

detailed well focused sound, good bass.nice sheen to treble.

Weakness:

Annoying large blue led on fascia.

this is a very nice amp. it does vocals very well in my system giving richness and emotion. There is a certain sheen to well recorded vocals.treble is better focused than the NAD c352 though the bass isnt as punchy. although it still can go very deep and tight if using the right speakers.the amp is very heavy and well built and looks good.I can imagine this amp sounding bright if partnered with wrong speakers and cd, partner it with neutral stuff like my AE evo 3 speakers and marantz cd7300 and it sounds superb even at high volumes.

Strength:

Good bass, nice detail and crisp at lower levels. The finish is actually quite nice, black with gold accents. The headphone output is actually quite good, with almost .... almost no background noise.

The tone controls work very well at 50hz and 20k hz. These do not butcher the sound like so many that work at 100hz. and 10k hz.

Weakness:

The crispness goes over the edge at moderate to higher volumes.

I would say it is a little overpriced . For my money and ears, the Harman HK-3480 easily betters this amp (except the HK headphone output is noisy), and for much less.

A pretty good amp. It is a little bright for me, and the sound can get harsh as you move up to high noon on the dial. You could call it crisp , with very good, relatively controlled bass and average mids ..... about what you'd expect in this range.

The crispness and brightness works well for satellite radio though.... but goes over the edge on CD's.

The build quality is very good, and the brushed aluminum black face looks good.

Customer Service

Marantz service didn't even know what this model was when I called with a question about it.... huh ?

Strength:

Neutral, natural sounding, classy looking, plenty of power

Weakness:

Really none!

This is a very neutral, natural sounding amp. Fot the price paid I think this is really exceptional good value. It has lots of possibilities, enough power to drive most speakers and it also looks good. Marantz states that is has based this amp on the much more expensive Marantz PM-11S1. On the budget market I can't think of a better sounding amp.
