Strength:

Clearness and price

Weakness:

Pretty weak basses, you've got to play it LOUD

When I bought this product I was very into synt music (house ed) It's great for that music, the sound is crystel clear. But then I grabbed some old metallica and other rock-cd's and wasn't pleased at all....No basses no mid just high... It was actually killing my ears....It had very sharp edges "around" guitars an high tones...
So I'm pretty dissapointed with my amp. I use it in combination with the Marantz CD6000 OSE and Wharfdale Ventana's.

Strength:

Power, build quality, relays, "source-direct" feature.

Weakness:

Volume pot is not accurate at very low volumes (L-R balance is off slightly), remote volume controll does not allow fine adjustments, sounds best at moderate to high volume levels.

I decided to replace my 20 year old Sansui Au-717 integrated amp with this model. I felt it was the best amp I could audition locally for the money. It has lots of power, but lacks the bass control of my former amp.
The MM phono section is pretty decent, although I'd prefer a separate, switchable subsonic filter.
Relays sound cool when switching sources!
I'm using this amp with other Marantz components and small monitors which tend to sound thin as a system. I believe this amp would sound its best when paired with warmer sounding speakers/sources.
My System:
Marantz PM7000
Marantz CD6000OSE (CD player)
Marantz ST6000 (Tuner)
B&W DM302's on Acadama 24" stands
MIT Terminator 2 speaker cables
AQ Diamondback IC's
AQ Python jumpers

Strength:

Very good power reserve, very good vocals, execellent imaging

Weakness:

nothing

This amp is built like a bomb shelter...and is huge.

It can drive my difficult Dynaudio with relative ease and have plenty of reserve left to really pump up the volume. Vocals are sweet, double bass is excellent but piano sound a bit colored. But hey, this is a budget AMP, I can't expect too much from it.

Remote is really neat and have all the facilities I need. Good sound, good build and great facilities -- > what else can I ask for?

Strength:

performance/price ratio

Weakness:

none

This piece cost much less than the Denon & Onkyo that I own.I believe it is more neutral than the other two. Matched with a well detailled CD player, it comes alive & impressive. It seems ideal with my Adcom GCD-750. Before trying the Adcom I used an HK-8350, Denon-460, Onkyo Integra, and a Marantz 67SE. The PM-7000 showed all the weaknesses of the other CD players. I would recommend that a person purchase this low cost power supply & spend the money they save on a CD player with a good quality DAC. I feel that the short-comings displayed by the other units was due to cheap DAC's.

Strength:

Very accurate and sharp

Weakness:

I miss some middle(?)

I'm very surprised with this tank.I own a Nad 3100pe(good but old), and it is interesting to notice the difference between these 2 pieces.
The 7000's is detailed and very (this is true) neutral, but
it has a problem with the middle.I don't understand if the middle frequency are missed,or if i'm used to hear the Nad(very full of mid),but: the bass are very detailed, the treble are very soft, and the power reserve is bigger than Nad, but i need some time to appreciate it.Another very important feature,(this is linked to the neutral sound)is the fact that you can hear it for very long time without get tired. My conclusion is:Pm 7000 is an amp with a very neutral sound that impress (maybe) who are using Nad,Onkio Denon and so on....(Japanese piece).

Strength:

Powerful, versatile. Looks good!

Weakness:

Muffles sound at low listening volumes, no real ability to separate pre- and power amps. Not possible to use tape/CD-R inputs in direct mode.

Well worth its money, especially if you own a couple of low-impedance, low efficiency speakers. Not that refined, however. Probably preferred by those who listen to pop/hip-hop music to the classical music fans.
