this is an outstanding amplifier! Not very pretty, but very simple. The sound is a bit to the warm side, but very harmonic. No tape output, no phono input, but only 4 inputs....viva le simplicy! It`s a black box with only one source and one volume and inbetween them, a power on/off button. Again, very simple.
But now to the sound: I hooked it up with my Jean Marie Reynaud, Orfeo, and the first impression was, silky smooth treble, good midrange and a fast and firm bass, wich also was very quick. A good soundstage and overwelming 3D feeling. I use JMR`s own speaker cable, but in this moment im purchasing Lavardins own speaker cable, the CX cable. Lavardin says, that to get the full of this amplifier, you should use their cables. I use Lavardins power cable, and it`s very good. I also use Lavardins interconnect between the amplifier and my Rega Saturn cd player. So for now i only need the speakercables. The IT also have something inside it, they call memory free distortion, and this should get the amplifier sound like the best tube`s.
This is an amplifier for life, once you heard this, you don t want anything else.
I will gladely recommend this amplifier!
