Very good amplifier for the money (I've payed $100 second hand) it has a tremendous sound for this kind of money and easily two times that amount. I've been listening to this amp for about three years and to buy a better one I have to pay three times more (second hand). I have listened to many other amps including newer and more expensive models in the harman/kardon's range (hk 970), but I've been disappointed. For a hundred dollars this harman is simply great! It really sounds like a 80W amp.

I really like this amp,its a power machine that never dies.Had it 4 2 years now and never had problems. It plays throughout the whole night when partying, volume stays just past the half way mark with no distortion at all.My speakers that i have are B&W DS3,dvd player is JVC.This amp can easily drive 200WATT speakers. The only thing it does not have is a LOUDNESS button, but to me the way it plays,LOUDNESS would not make a difference to it.

Strength:

Clean, Tight and punchy sound.

High current design, and should drive most speakers without problems.

Weakness:

The mid band can be better.

This is the first amplifier I bought, and that got me hooked into audiophilia.

Funnily for someone who enjoys classical music and jazz, I used to like punchy sounding hifi. And punchy it was. Probably due to the high current design, it never sounded as if it was going to run out of juice - I initially had a pair of Mission 731i pros, later replaced by B&W CDM1SEs.

Naturally, after a year and a bit I upgraded to another high current design amplifier (s) - the Roksan Caspian Integrated & power combo (and then onto the ultimage - Quad 66 and 606 - I know they are old but, my god, they can play MUSIC.)

If you're on a tight budget and love tight and punchy sound, then I thoroughly recommend the HK620 amplifier - though I don't know how it will sound after 10 years.

Strength:

finesse, speed, bass, power, looks

Weakness:

no preouts

Very nice amplifier that can play very loud without stessing a bit. Has no trouble with any speaker I've used. Sound is quite refined for and amp in this price range. Tonality is excellent, as is overall clarity, no sign of being veiled, lots of detail and air. Amp has tremendous speed, so separation is great. Sounds like and 80 w/ch integrated. Remote works everything and the volume has an indicator led so you can see its position when dark. Let me tell you, I was shocked how close this amp comes to the ($1000) Audio Refinement Complete in many respects.

I've lived with this small integrated amp for about 3 months now and I really can't give it enough praise.
It is rated at only 40 watts per channel. It has some problems driving low impedence speakers. So it is best if used in a small to medium sized room with sensitive speakers.

The sound quality is just amazing for a budget integrated. The soundstage is deep and wide, with plenty of detail. It never sounds harsh, even at high volume levels. MY CD player is a Marantz CD63se, and Speakers are the new Kef Q15's

Unfortunaly the HK620 and all other harman/kardon 2 channel stereo amplifiers have been discontinued in the US. But they are available in Europe.

My only complaint is that this amplifier does not have PREOUTS, otherwise it deserves five stars.

Wery good. I have it more than a year. You have to pay 2-3 times more to do better. Needs careful system matching, will "dress out" cheap CD players, but in the right setup gives a taste of high end.
