Strength:

Very fast, images well, able to create a very realistic soundstage...very good built

Weakness:

Slight transformer hum

When I notice this amp at a nearby Hifi shop, I need to stop and admire it. Very beautifully built.

I gave it a listen, this amp certainly amazes me. Very fast, very easy to follow the Rythmic section of the music. It is able to conjure up an extremely realistic soundstage. Back to front, left to right imaging is adsolutely spot on.

This amp lets you forget about everything and juz enjoy the music.

Caveat : Don't use speaker cables with high capacitance on this amp, it might cause problems...I guess this is reason why the below guy's Densen caught fire...and also this guy is very fussy with its partnering equipment. You need to avoid speakers with metal drivers and a reasonably speedy CD player to realise its potential, else it will sound detach and "normal"

I have tried numerous amps, but this amp is the one that gave me the most enjoyment. I will give it fullmarks.

It is impossible to walk by an amplifier as Densen. First it's the looks - the awesome elegance and functionality - all it has are two identical golden buttons, as big as a Dark Dog can cut in two, one for loudness and the other one for choosing inputs. Inside the black painted duraluminnium case, you can se probably the biggest pair of transformers in this class of amplifiers. Two toroidal, CD sized pieces of metal at one side, a passive preamp on the other and a set of condensators containing 80.000 uF - the gigantic amount of electricity stored in this amplifier is obvious - when you turn it off, with volume set to 9 o'clock, it continues to play music for over half an hour. The sound is excellent in all but the sub bass area. Both the mid and highs are the best in this class, its just the slight lack of the deepest bass - the one that scares the people 3 blocks away - that prevents this amp being absolutely perfect. For 1300GBP I cant find anything more reccomendable.

Strength:

Clean sound, speed, transparency, soundstaging, nice treble and mid-range.

Weakness:

fussy about sources, speakers, cables and interconnects.

Excellent value for money. Possiblely the cheapest dual mono/non-feedback 75 watter amplifier you can buy. I have owned it for more than 3 1/2 years without any problem. Very transparent but marginally bright especially when just switched on. It has speed and clarity. Soundstage is wide. The mid-range and treble is also very nice. However it is very fussy about speakers, cables, interconnects and sources. So partner with care and only with quality equipments and cables. It doesn't like bright ancillary. It is also susceptible to hum at times when place too near to CD player or the mains, so placement is also important. One way of avoiding the hum is to "earth" the negative.

Strength:

Super fast sound with no overhang. Clear expressive mid. No nasties at the top end.

Weakness:

can be difficult to get the earthing absolutely right.AS I live in the UK other countries may not experience this problem.

As this amp has beenn well covered by others and my views are available in summary,I am just going to share a few tips that I have found useful in getting the best from this amp.Firstly I am not at all sure of DEnsens quality control on this amp it sounded far better when it was serviced and adjusted to meet exact specification as regards balance and power output. The moral is get yours checked by a really expert engineer.
The second thing I have realised is that the Densen sounds much better with the case removed I know your going to hate me for spoiling the looks of your amp but the difference really is quite large.
Thirdly I found that the performance lept forward when placed on a Mana Reference Support these are available ona trial basis so you wont lose if you disagree.
With these jobs done, the DM10 is now faster clearer and more invlving than the above mentioned Naim. From me that is praise indeed.
