Strength:

Authoritative bass, smooth high

I bought this unit in 10/1999 after reading the review on The Absolute Sound (issue 119 8/9 1999). I cannot believe that Robert Harley used it to drive the Avalon Eidolons (my dream speaker, as heard in Progressive Audio, Columbus OH).

I never regret buying this unit, even though I didn't get a chance to listen to it before writing the check (BAD IDEA!). It produces the right kind of sound for me. Smooth, musical, plus enough bass when the music demands. On top of the sound, build quality, heavy duty remote (full featured) are pluses.

I tried the power cord twisting tweak that I read from the web (twisting the power cords of the electronics together to, supposingly, reduce noice), and the sound became noisy instantly. I don't know if the amp is sensitive or the speakers.

This combo produces a very nice sound stage, imaging is very nice. At low volume, the vocal is very sweet.

My system:
Classe CDP-.3
Classe CAP-80
B&W Nautilus 805
AudioTruth Forest speaker cable
AudioTruth Lapis x3 balanced interconnect.
