Strength:

I wasn't sure I would be able to purchase it through AAFES but after pulling it out of the box and pumping my jazz (6-hours plus) through it, it has to be one of the best audio investments I've made to date(purchased June '97). The sound quality is very unique depending on type of tape (Quantegy Gold/Maxell XL-II recommended). One can't help but smile at the musical strength and quality heard from this unit. Purchase: 1500USD from ebay.
Strengths: Space is very good, warm, rich music, fine, fine control over bass, listening to jazz, vocal, country, Symphony ... all pretty good show. An excellent product through which I was fortunate to take ownership of, I do not believe in empty offers that I could buy.
Weakness: no remote control.
Device comparisons: KVA-300i Krell, Denon S10, S10II, Luxman L-570Xs

I've owned this high-end amp 2001. It's an amp, build like a tank, with very detailed information. Very rare on the market. It was a high value for the price.
It was the last pure full stereo integrated amp from sony, and truely one of the best sony-products.
Very goog highs, voices are very clear, good bass. A very, very transparent and quiete sounding for all kind of music and loundess. A higly recommended product. You must use a very good other equipment for this amp.The amp sound better than an accuphase E-212. Very accurate stabiility under two Ohms. The amp has a very great volume knob. You can handle tones form bass, middle and high. You can use turntables with MM or MC systems. The input for MC is very good - so good that you must buy an seperte amp abut 600 $ for better sounding. There are inputs for SACD, Tape 1, Tape 2, Aux and inputs for XLR. Tuner. RCA-ouputs for an amp also. You can use only two speakers with biwiring. The best inputs for sa(cd)-sound are the XLR (balanced) inputs.
Strengths:
Accurate, dynamic, MOS-FET-Sound. Very good building quality. It sounds a little like tube amps (warm)
Weaknesses:
No remote control
Similiar products:
Accupase E-213, Krell KAV 300iL (has more bass and not warm)

Let me firstly say that this amp has the sweetest most airy natural treble I have ever heard! It has fantastic microdynamics (detail) at low to medium volume levels. It also has a rock solid soundstage with plenty of space around instruments . .. even in dense mixes. The build quality is astounding.
