well i bought this amp a week ago and right out of the box the difference in quality was apparent. Better highs, midrange&bass the overall soundfield is fuller with no listener fatigue.I would recommend this powerhouse to anyone. The amp is getting warmer&smoother as the breakin period progresses.Next item on the list is preamplification.

Strength:

Value, bass performance and looks

Weakness:

Lack of imagining, soundstage, naturalness

This review is based on my recent visit to a local high-end audio/video dealer. I was looking into upgrading from my stereo(2 channel) Krells driving B & W Nautilus 804's to multi-channel (mostly)music and home theater with a full B & W Nautilus 5.1 speaker setup. I was extremely interested in the Rotel because of their apparent "bang for the buck" compared to a Krell multi-channel setup; 200wpc for only $2000 is a steal. I arrived at the dealer expecting great things. I really wanted to like the Rotel and my wallet really loved the price. But I was very disappointed with the sound while driving a pair of Nautilus 804's. Compared to my Krell, the Rotel was flat, dull and relatively lifeless. The incredible imagining, soundstage and liveliness I had with the Krell was gone, I was incredibly disappointed. Where did the treble go? But on the bright side, the mid-range was pretty neutral and the bass had some geniune slam(but the bass was looser and less controlled). Seeing my dismay with the Rotel sound, the dealer pointed me to the next listening room containing Classe components. Well, to make a long story short, I have found what I'm looking for, Krell comparable or better sound for less than Krell asking for money. Compared to the Krell, the Classe CAV-180 was warmer and more natural, yet retaining the Krell liveliness, soundstage, imagining and bass slam. With that in mind, the Rotel is simply outclassed by Krell and Classe. Yes, I know the Rotel is much cheaper than either(half the cost of the Classe and less than half the cost of a Krell), but you get what you pay for. If I hadn't listened to Krell or Classe, I would have been happy with the Rotel sound... but I have and I can't buy Rotel. I'll be pennyless with the Classe, but extremely happy also.

Strength:

Excellent performance, unlimited power and an excellent value.

Weakness:

None in my view at this price point.

Excellent amp. I had a yamaha 2095 and decided to move to separates. I initially purchased the 1075 along with the 1066 processor. What a difference. I sounded so much better (and I was very happy with the Yamaha) that I decided to move from the 1075 to the 1095. What an impressive piece of electronics (80 lbs) and the sound is wonderful for both video and audio. I'm not an audiophile but I enjoy quality compenents. I highly recommend Rotel. 1095 Rotel amp 1066 Rotel Processor Paradign Studio 60s - Main Studio 20's - Rear Studio CC - Center Denon DVD 3800

Natural and realistic sound. Cannot be beat at this price point.

What a beast-this thing weighs a ton! Now, on to the sound. Natural and smooth is the best way to describe this amp. My paradigm studio 60's could at times be too forward and bright; not anymore. The Rotel tamed the sound and has made for an amazingly realistic experience for both music and movies.

Strength:

Heavy(means excellent construction) Balanced ins, detatchable power cord, and awesome, awesome sound.

Weakness:

Although the amp has balanced inputs, its internal circuitry is not balanced.

This is just one big beautiful amp. It is so heavy that my back was sore for 2 days! I purchased the silver version because I've decided to change all my components to silver since its alot nicer looking especially with blue leds such as this Rotel amp. Its sound quality is among the best that I have ever heard. Deep accurate bass, crystal clear highs and a very big soundstage. This amp is desinged to be cranked up and will still ask for more. Rotel has redifined value because for 2 thousand bucks this amplifier outperformes amps that I've heard costing twice as much. 200/330 watts into five channels of THX certified sound for under 2 grand is a steal. Highly recommended.

Clean, clear undistort sound. Nothing come close at this price. A real bargain. 2200$cdn...a real steal

Weakness:

Wasd hissing like crazy at first, but it was an easily fixed ground-loop problem. Now quiet as a tomb.

I've choose the silver RMB-1095 to go separate with a RXV-3200 as pre-amp. Compared this baby with Parasound, Classe and Bryston. For the price, this unit can't be beat. I am really surprised from the sound coming from my Paradigm Studio-40. This beast seems to tame those really clear and in-your-face Paradigm. I think this Rotel got infinite power. Impossible to have it clip. Even at unbearable levels (like 110db), it's like you are listening at a normal level, but when I close the amp, my ear are ringing and buzzing!! I was not use to a clean and non-distorted sound, so I had to readjust my listening levels. Do yourself a favor, go listen to this amp. Compare it with units costing 2 times more, and you will laugh of joy because of the price you have paid. Pure gem. One advise tough, expect a good 2 months of abuse before the breakin period will be complete. 200 WPC very low distortion

Weakness:

weight - weighs a ton

I bought this amp because my Sony 444es was not doing justice to my Def Tech 2002TL speakers. I thought the sony was too recessed in both movies and music. Hooking up the 1095 immediately opened up the speakers. Movies were particularly un satisfying before the Rotel, especially after watching them in demo and at my friend's house. The L/R and Surrounds were too compressed. The Rotel changed all that. I hope to mate the amp with the new Rotel 1066 pre/pro because I still think the sony processing capabilities is not up to par. Dolby Digital still seems too recesed. For DTS I am the 9 o'clock position on the dial and it is very loud. For DD I have to turn the dial up to 12 o'clcok to get the same loudness and presence. Rotel is a winner all the way.

SOUND and LOOKS.

Weakness:

For the price and quality NONE!

Befor this product i used my Yamaha RVX-3000 and it was ok, but it seem to have a hard time with high volumes. The sound was not as solid on higher volumes. So i started looking into amps, i audition the Bryston, B&K, Adcom, Earthquake, ATI, MCIntosh, Rotel and so on. It came down to the B&K, ATI, Earthquake and the Rotel. As far as sound in the higher volumes the Rotel kick the crap out of them, the sound was just something else at the lower Volume the B&K seem better, but hey guess what this amp was going to support my 6.1 digital surround, so lower volume meen nothing as they would say "ROCK THE HOUSE". So i bought the Rotel and everything was history. Boy talk about realism, tight bass basically great ULTRA THX AMP it lives up to LUCAS standards. I am not much into music any way, just my digital surround. If you want a great amp for quality and price, this is it you can''t go wrong. This is my set up at home. Strength:

I disagree with some previous poster who said that the look is not the best. I like the looks of the front and the back. The sound it produces is breathtaking.

Weakness:

The weight. The distance between two binding posts.

I have been living with my 4 year old dolby prologic receiver and actually liked the sound of it through a pair of JBL G500s. Because I am still waiting for my pre/pro (Outlaw 950), I don''t have anything to test it with. I was lucky enough because an HTF member let me to test the amp with his gear recently. I used to hate it when people say that they were blown away when listening to their new gear. It is not true anymore because I myself felt the same way when listening to the Rotel 1095 for the first time.

Weakness:

at these prices, are there any?

Having owned many high end amplifiers, I admit I was a bit skeptical as to the qualty of these products that generally retail for much less than the typical krell and bryston products I have owned in the past. Let me first begin by saying that I am in no way saying these amplifiers are equal in overall performance as products costing up to 5 times the price as the rotels. But I am confident in saying that they are within 95% of them. Considering the price difference and my 22 years in the buisness of audio sales in specialty stores, this is quite a feat to say the least. I might add that the rotels like to be worked a little harder in the volume department to bring out the sound quality compared to some other highend amps. So for casual listening at low volumes I would give the nod to the other mega dollar amps. But thats where the advantage ends. At reference levels the rotels simply equal the sound quality and authority. Bass response especialy with movies is tight and refined. Mids and highs are quite dynamic without being overly harsh. Power reserves seem almost endless as the power ratings seem ridiculously under rated under test conditions. I have personaly tested the output of these amps and figures approach 300 watts at 1% distortion. This far exceeds the manufacturers rating of 200 watts continuous all channels driven. Given the audiophile grade parts used inside, it is not hard to see why. I personaly use 3 seperate 1080 amps in my theater for my 6.1 system. With 3 seperate 1.2 kva toroidal transformers and 12 15,000 uf slit foil capacitors it is fair to say that dynamics is not a problem in my system. I highly recomend good speakers and low impedance numbers down to 4 ohms will not phase the amps the least. I highly recomend these amps as sound quality, power, and price will astound you.
