Strength:

Musical, more than enough power for my needs, compact - don't get a hernia lifting this. The variable inputs are very useful when you have to match a pre amp.

Weakness:

speaker binding posts are crap- if you using bare wire - need a hole in the middle

excellent - good value for money

Strength:

Neutral, seemingly uncolored, more effortless sounding than you'd expect, volume controls negate the need for a preamp.

Weakness:

Not as transparent as the best, small trace of grain, in stereo mode not the most effortless amp.

The amp I own is the MK2 version, don't know the differences between this one and the standard version, but the MK2 is a lot of amp for a little money. I got mine from the good folks at Audition Systems in Utah for $300.00. The sound I get in my system is definately more neutral than euphonic or sterile. The soundstage is deep, not as deep as with some tube amps I've heard, but still good on a recording with good depth. Imaging is first rate, I can easily pick out instruments in the soundstage, but no so much front to back in relation to one another. There is also a lack of roundness to instruments, air is also lacking just a little bit. But this may be attributed to my less than stellar dvd player that I am forced to use as a cd player right now. And this is also in comparison to kilobuck amps paired with kilobuck components. All in all I highly recommend this amp to anyone, especially if you only have one source for audio and don't mind fiddling around with the voulume controls(no markings as to where one control is in relation to the other, or volume in general). Great sound and the added clarity of no preamp, with very few and minor drawbacks. Compares favorably to amps costing multiples more. Happy listening!

My System(currently): Amp: Rotel RB-951MKII
CD Player: KLH DVD Player(Cambridge Audio
D300 Se on the way)
Cables: Kimber KWIK12, Custom Belden ICs
(Cableplex Silver1s on the way)

Strength:

Effortless sound from only 50W per side. Very clean neutral sound from silent to full output.

Weakness:

No AC power outlets

Outstanding value! Sound eminates from a black velvet background. Easily drove my Paradigm 5SE's to room shaking volume without clipping, distorting, or overheating. Managed everything from Mozart to Metallica to Miles as effortlessly as an amp rated at 3 times the output.

Excellent choice for daisy chaining with other RB-951's for biamping, bridged mono or as a single stereo unit.

Rotel has packaged a high quality high end unit at very attractive price. Simplicity of execution with eerything you need in a no frills power amp.
