I purchased the RB-1080 to replace an old Yamaha integrated amp I had been using for a couple of years. All I can say is, what a dissappointment. The highs are noticeably rolled off, the bass is bloated. I sold the RB-1080 2 weeks after I got it.

Detail, smooth presentation, bass. The Rotel RB-1080 amp and the B&W 805 speakers are a marriage made in heaven.

Weight, this amp is HEAVY. But it's a good thing. I belong to the old school where I equate weight with quality.

After having spent many happy years with my 15 year old amp/pre amp, curiosity got the better of me, and I was ready to try something new. Went to my local dealer, tried out various Adcom, Rotel, Parasound, Krell, etc. I brought some of them home to test. Out of the all the amp/preamps, I just found myself drawn to the Rotel sound. Finally put down the money for the new Rotel lineup, RC-1090 preamp and RB-1080 amp. I have B&W 805 speakers at home. With my new amp, all I can is WOW! The detail, the smooth presentation, the bass, everything! This amp really brought my 805's to life! Before, with my old amp, I always thought something was missing in my 805 speakers, like they were not performing what people claim the 805's are capable of. With the new amp, my jaws dropped! Purchased this amp less than a month ago.Found that this amp is very clear and very defined.Very good bottom end and moderate highs which are not bright.Had the RB-1070 and found that this RB-1080 to be much better all round.Using a Yamaha RXV-3000 surround sound reciever as a pre-amp with B&W 602 S 3 Speakers sounds magnificent.
