I have Two MC2125s. They are hooked up in a mono configuration to kef 104/2 . The sound is fantastic, heaven. The Kefs love the power of these amps. I would never trade or sell these amps, they are keepers. I have had many McIntosh amps but have long since sold them. I also own the MC 2105 , and this to is a Mcintosh winner. Both have there own unique sounds But maitain the MCintosh tube sound.

The MC2125 was in the first line of McIntosh power amps to feature Power Guard, a switchable anti-clipping circuit for high output levels. Densely packed at 65 pounds, it has the traditional MC self illuminating faceplate and blue VU meters,

I picked this unit up $600 at local electronics thrift store complete with owners manual, schematic, and original owners registration from 1981, thereby changing my life, and assuring it family heirloom status. Had previously been using a B&K 4420EX which was greatly appreciated, but the MC2125, wow! Those blue meters, the chrome chassis, the huge honkin' caps and outputs exposed. As Gene Sheppard said in A Christmas Story, "The soft glow of electric sex".

My B&K had a nice, dark, analytical sound, but the McIntosh is BIG, warm, with way better bass extension. I never understood when reviewers would refer to an amps "slam", but now I sure do! The transient of a good kick drum is like a shot to the gut. Monster soundstage. This is it folks - the last power amp I will own!

Pros:

Eveything you've ever heard about McIntosh solid state in spades. Massive soundstage, tight image, revealing inner detail. Never breaks a sweat. And, oh, that blue glow in the corner of the living room!

Cons:

Really inhospitable, old school binding posts for speaker cables. Will probably throw my back out having this be the one item I rescue from my house as it burns down.
