ive gotta say discrete componants can keep it going all day and all night.gotta sr7000 marantz receiver to go with it,dd,dts,thx,sets this thing up with a crystal clear and powerful home movie set up.also have paradigm fronts and center channel with accoustic image speakers for rears.10inch infinity sub with a marantz dvd player and gotta say the mm9000 brings my system to life.170 watts x 5 gives you all the power you need!so if your confused on what to buy check tis bad boy out youll love it for the price {985.00}!

clean power, inexpensive 5 channel amp

Not powerful enough

After reading all of the reviews on this site I bought this amp because it was supposed to be the most powerful for the money. I have Magnepan 1.6's and they were no being adequately driven by my 60 wpc NAD receiver. I would have loved to get a Sunfire but I didn't want to pay the premium. The power is sufficient but there is no room to spare. I have regularly played music and movies with the red lights on the amp blinking and even on constantly at lound but listenable levels. I probably wouldn't want to hear it any louder but it would be nice to know that I could. Additionally, the room the set up is in is 15' x 15' which is not particularly large. In a larger room it would be inadequate. I know Magenpans are power hungry and they may need more than 150 wpc.
As far as the performance goes, I have not anything but my underpowered 60 wpc amp to compare it to. It is head and shoulders above that. Much clearer and more defined with better bass response. I haven't compared it with other amps so I can't tell how others stack up but the sound is terrific. Even when the red lights are blinking, there is no distortion or harshness. I listened to Bruce Springsteen's Greetings from Asbury Park and The Wild the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle and I never realized how poorly recorded they were until I got this amp. It is clear enough to bring out the imperfections.

I would reccomend this amp if you have magnetic planar speakers but only in a small room. For any speakers with decent efficiency ratings it is more than enough.

Plenty of crisp clean power

remote from av560 won't turn it off or on.

Got a great price on a combo with av560 and mm9000. The stor was running a special. 950 for both. This is my first purchas of components. I was looking to buy a dennon 3801 or 4800. Both dennon's are great recievers, but the marantz combo rocks. Easy hookup(took about 10 minutes)and great crystal clear sound. It definately has enough power to run my klipsch rf3's, rc3, rs3's and ksw12.

Very strong consistant power, power sdjustment on back panel.

standby light does not work on older models, the CHEAP binding posts for speaker wires, standby light only lights with marantz products.

This amp for the price is great. I can hear very clear defined high freq. as well as low freq. without any problems. The amp is able to keep up with the fastest movies, and music while not losing any quality. However, the lack of gold plated quality binding posts is disapointing. Other simple features that were not included, such as, a standy by light that works, and remote on/off with any components not just Marantz, would have been nice.

Great value for the dollar.

to about 7 diff. kinds in this price range. this amp sounds great to me..



Just rember one thing we all are diff and will hear sounds
diff. I wouldnt list to any thing the Mag,s say if it sounds
good to you buy it.....

connection

This is my first amplifier and I love the difference that it made. I don't want to go on and on, so all I have to say is that there is not a better deal out there!! The only problem I have with it is that the binding post do not accept anything except bare wire. I have bannana's and you have to insert them into the sides of the post's and really strain the flexabilit of the wire. I'm using MIT terminator 2's, which do not flex well. There is no opening in the middle of the post and there is nothing to connect spades to either! it's just plastic against plastic, I don't know what they were thinking. Beyond that it really is an amazing value.

NOTE to all who have not been able to use the banana connectors (they come from the factory sealed, due to EURO regulations preventing their use, as the openings resemble electrical connections): Simply screw into the exact center of each post with a sharp, sheetrock screw, JUST ENOUGH to penetrate and get a grip on the plastic plug; then simply pull the plug out!! Works like a charm, and when these black inserts are removed, you now have the standard banana plug openings. I found this technique out from one of the Marantz dealers).

The best thing about this amp is how it tame the bright sound of my nht set up. It has handle my 2.5 ac1 1.5 with no problems and it can get very loud if needed. At its price it hard to beat. Use good speaker wires. the 2.5 have low sen. and are 6ohm spk as well are the 1.5 but this amp has no problem with load. this amp is well made and can be put to heavy duty use. I am enjoying it better than my carver set up, not to take away from the carver this system just matches my nht better and the bottom line is your amp should match them speakers.

I, now have the Marantz MM 9000/AND AV 9000, and there performance is outstanding. The Mrantz MM9000 IS A STRONG PERFORMER IN HOME THEATER MODE. AND IT SOUNDS JUST AS GOOD IN 2 CH STEREO, I WOULD SUJEST USEING TOP GRADE COMPONENTS WITH IT IT WILL ONLY BENNEFIT YOUR LISTENING PLEASUER, THIS PAIR IS MARANTZ'S TOP HOME THEATER UNITS. THE TWO OF THEM OUT PERFORM ANY OF MARANTZ'S RECIEVER'S SR-18 AND SR-14. YOU HAVE TWO SEPERATE CHASSIS TWO SEPERATE POWER SUPPLIES, AND IF YOU CAN GET YOUR HANDS ON A MM 9000 THEN TAKE THE LID OFF AND CHECK OUT THE SIZE OF THE POWER TRANSFORMER [HUGE TOROIDAL] I MIGHT ADD AND THE BUILD QUALITY IS THERE. THX settings, sturdy construction

I picked this up online refurbished and, had I not known it was refurb, I never would have guessed it; it is immaculate.

Sound clarity and detail is very good. I am using a Marantz SR7000, which I like also, but the power rating is deceiving (100watts x 5 Marantz specs = 85 x 5 independent reviews)so I picked this up for home theater and also use it for music.

If you are looking for a good, solid amplifier that sounds excellent and won't break the bank, check out this amp at accessories4less. They were a real pleasure to work with.
