Strength:
Excellent value, Quick, Detailed & Musical
Weakness:
None These are the lowest power rated Amps that I have used. I am bi-amping Magnepan 1.6QRs with them. They seem to be an excellent match. My pre-amp & CD are also from Linn. These were the latest addition to my system, replacing 2 B&K 2140s(rated at 140wpc/8ohms). Immediatly I noticed a faster, more dynamic presentation of my music. My system sounded more "realistic". The pitch & decay of all music was more natural. More power is not as good as quality power. I would recommend that anyone searching for an emotional presentation of music should at least take a look at Linn. Similar Products Used: Onkyo, Marantz, B&K |

A fine amp with a robust pitch accurate sound. Not nearly as powerful as the LK140, but if you are thinking about going active down the road then this amp makes sense. This is substantially smoother than previous Linn amps I have owned. As long as you are happy using an amp with the sound tailored to be smooth and detailed with punch, yet not hyper-detailed then you will be pleased with the results. If you require the resolution to hear orchestra players turning pages of their scores or dandelion seeds blowing in the wind (e.g. Bryston ST series) then this is not the amp for you....better to upgrade your preamp anyways to improve resolution. This amp is more about evoking an emotional response with impact and realistic pitch. This review is done in the context of an all Linn system. |
