I am 3 years now in an audio evolution and journey. In Mar08 I bought a pair of KR audio DX (100 wpc) SET monoblock amps new for $24000/pair. Was a huge upgrade from my puny SPT100 hybrid monoblocks. I kept hearing the brand name JADIS. So in Aug08 I bought a used pair of JA30 which were 10 years old and 30 wpc. These baby amps (as I call them) threw out the big DXs by their very musical, realistic and natural voice. I was driving a pair of 350 wpc max handling Focal JMLab Nova Utopia Be speakers. Yet the JA30s handled them without a problem. I was so impressed by the JA30s that I upgraded my Shindo Masseto preamp to a Jadis JP80MC preamp and wow! another improvement. I was in musical bliss for over a year with this setup and in Oct09 I found a 5 year old JA200 (audiogon) and have upgraded my JA30s. Spectacular, stunning, unbelievable, totally realistic, holographic, wide and deep soundstage are words that describe but still do not depict how absolutely superb these JA200s sound. Its like the real band is 14 feet in front of me with my eyes closed when I am in the audio room. In another room it sounds like I have a real band in the house. People on the phone ask if I am in a club with a live band. The system sounds like being in an opera house or live band concert.......in the VIP front row. This marks the end of my audio journey of 3 years. I use Clearaudio Turntables (Master solution with Unify CF tonearm & Stradivari cart & an Ambient TT with Satisfy tonearm and shelter 501 cart, an Audio Aero Prestige SE CD player; and Kondo and Shindo i/c; auditorium23 speaker cables. You know the rest of the system. Its a match made in heaven. I knew I could benefit some by upgrading my awesome JA30s; I did not realize the JA200 would make such a huge improvement. They bring out the full potential of my Focal Utopia Be speakers. Incredible bass. So much detail across the full range. I did buy a full matched set of KT88s. The JA200 uses 10 each. It cost me $1000 for the KT88s and they still need more time to break in. It just keeps getting better. Surely agree these are the best amps in the world at any price. Every thing else is a compromise.Like Mark Twain said: I am a Man of simple taste. Only the best will do. As I say: Life is short. So dont be afraid to treat yourself.

Strength:

air, soundstage, palpable sound image

Weakness:

none

Just got an used pair to drive Apogee Duetta Signatures. Unbelievable sound. Terrific, huge, sound image and soundstage. Very authentic vocal and string reproduction. Producing much more power than Duetta demands. Set came with the Gold Lion KT88 of later production, may be made in China. Will replace for the Tung-Sol 6550 in due time (i.e., when any KT88 breaks), should have significant improvement.
