Strength:

Musicaly Muscular, Superb Soundstage

Weakness:

Heavy, Runs Hot(not really a "weakness")

This is an update. If youre condidering this amp, youll not regret the purchase. This amp runs hot, (Hi Class A Bias) and weighs a bit. Other than that I really cant fault it. The soundstage is very, very good. The balance is excellent, with a slight low midbass prominence. This gives the amp A nice sense of weight and power, but not so much to rob the harmony or beauty from delicate music. This amp wont get harsh easily, but isnt dark or smoothed over. All in all, excellent and pleasing with no apparent drawbacks.
I think my original four stars was unqualified for an initial review, but Im still just as impressed, and thats impressive. Four stars.

Strength:

Tight bass, fine mids. Powerful look.

Weakness:

To much high frequency interference (noise/THD)
Is buzzing even on no volum level.
No good loudspeaker terminations (plastic)

Good, stable soundstage and midrange but to noisy treble boost. Fine as home theater amp. Can drive heavy load speakers without any problem.

Strength:

power supply, sonic clarity, and quiet operation.

Weakness:

None that I can think of at the moment

I bought this as an upgrade from the HK avr 5 in order to safely run my newly acquired Paradigm ref studio 40's (v.2).
I'm using it in the same way Jsaon Wong is (previous reviewer) to bi-amp the paradigms. The difference was anything but subtle! Even at high volumes, the 2.1 effortlessly rises to the occasions. Highly recommended.

Home theater buffs should enjoy this for its low thd, amperage (100 amp peak to peak!) and uniform output 100w x5 @8ohm, 150 x 5 @4ohms. But if you're more of a music fan like me, use four of those channels to biamp (if your spaekers allow, of course) and hear what this baby can really do!

I got mine from Harman Audio reconditioned at a lower price.
No marks or defects to speak of. Be sure to give them a look!

I recently purchased an HK 2.1 for a home theater application. I'm driving a full set of NHT's and I find that the power rolls off clean and smooth. The sound reproduction is brilliant and accurate. I bought it at Fry's Electronics, they are blowing them out at $799. My opinion says it's the best bang for the buck. I would like to add that if loud is your bag, then I would recommend a dedicated outlet from your fuse panel just for the amp.

Strength:

Power, clarity, quiet, and drives my speakers with ease.

Weakness:

Runs warm but what amp doesn't.

I bought this amp from a recommendation of a friend. Amps do make a difference! I bought the Denon 3801 (105x7) and I thought I needed some extra power so I purcahsed this amp. Man, I am so happy that I made that move.

My speakers really came alive but the rears especially. The Denon has a good power supply but when I watch Gladiator in DTS-ES I really have to turn it up to get a good sound. At first the volume difference was small because the power supply was about the same. But, with the amp added I have noticed on movies the volume levels have changed. I do not have to turn it as much before and the rears speakers really come alive. Also the clarity and detail coming from my speakers (Polk Audio's..RT800, CS400, and RT35) is amazing!!!

Bass is also way more evident than before. I put in U571 and I finally set all my speakers to large and my house shakes from the depth charge scene. Another cool thing with this amp I can set all my speaker to 'large' and really get to hear and feel the sounds throughtout HT room.

My room is 26x14x9, it is a decent size room so the added power is really noticed in the back of the room. You can tell the difference in sound when you went from the middle of the room to the back from the . With the amp you the sound is continuous throughout the room with great clarity and power.

Overall, I am very happy with the purchase and I cannot wait till to Phantom Menace!

Strength:

Beautiful construction, very clean and strong power

Weakness:

No DB-25 input. Non-bridgeable.

I was very impressed when I first switch on this baby.
The blue signature light is beautiful and the amp is very
quiet. An audible electronic buzz could be heard after a while, but will be covered by any music or sound track coming out of speakers. So this is very trivial, and other amps like the Adcom or Sunfire has the same level of buzz.
As to the power, very clean and rich. I have no idea of
how loud it could be pushed, because I am living in an
apartment. But I am quite sure you won't need to
concern that as long as you are not building a real theater in your home.
