Great midrange, great seperation and definition. Rock solid power. 20 year warranty. Connectors on the back take dual banana plugs (unlike the newer Brystons). Ground lift switch makes solving 60 cycle hum easier.

Older 8b-ST doesn't have the auto-start input so a Bryston SP-1 can auto-start it, and it has lacks the momentary power switch on newer 9-series amps.

This was my first foray into seperates, replacing an Pioneer 3 channel receiver. I was very fortunate to buy this from a vendor who supplied musicians. Some rich fellow had special ordered the 8b-ST, found 120w x 4 to be lacking, and had returned it to get Byrston monoblocks. I got the unit "used" (for about 1 day) from the vendor who couldn't resell it to his professional musician clientele. I have the 8b-ST. 120 watts per channel x 4. Ground life switch. Bridgeable. Balanced and unbalanced inputs. I auditioned this against the Acurust 250 watt amps as well as B&Ks. I bought the Bryston because no other amp provided front-to-back as as well as left-right soundstage seperation. Listening to a Bryson is like listening to music in "planes" rather than a "cloud". As well, the ST series is ultra quiet. No white noise in the speakers when there's no signal present.
