Strength:

Incredible soundstage, extended bass and midbass punch.

Weakness:

Heat and Power (necessary evils)

Wow. Wonderful tube amp that makes no apologies in the midbass department.

Install a Hunter ceiling fan. Virtually silent. It helps out with the heat (doesn't seem to put out much more than my Mitsu projection TV).

The brilliant auto-bias circuit eliminates the need for tube matching, and warmup isn't really noticeable. No push-pull circuit topology here for 60 watts.

If the first 6 hours is any indication, I will actually enjoy the first 100 hours for burn in.

Strength:

Rich sound with tonal accuracy. Liquid mids, and a very extended soundstage.

Weakness:

Makes your listening room the warmest in the house

Can turn your listening room into a sauna on a warm day; definitely the warmest room in the house

I bought my first VK 60 in 96 and used it in stereo config. for years and have been satisfied to the point I didn't find another amp I would replace it with. Finally about 6 months ago I was able to add a second VK60. The mono config. made the difference I heard it would and more. The stage came right up to my listening area on some recordings; Past walls on the left, right, behind and ceiling. Freq. extremes sounded a little cleaner and more extended with the authority it was missing in stereo. The extra power gave more ease of portrayal to the music. More air surrounded the instruments. The background was also quietier. I would definitely recommend the VK60 monoblocks. I'll be enjoying them for a long time to come or until something better comes along. Tubal for life. Associated Equipt: Dunlavy SClll, Theta Gen Va, Data ll, Velodyne HGS18, all Transparent Ultra cabling, BAT VK5i.

Strength:

only auditioned... but love it.....so I bought two..

Weakness:

slightly concerned about tube life in a warm climate...

I just have to say that I had the chance to audition the
VK-60. For several hours I & a verve copy of oscar peterson put the VK-60 through its paces with totem speakers..
Most likely the review above from hawaii,(he) is also is familiar with the dealer of VK in hawaii (only one).
Anyway I was so taken by the dynamics and soundstage of
these amps...you have just got to hear em...I ordered one
and about two days before delivery I ordered another...(excess is a nasty habit). I was thinking monoblocks but instead I intend to Bi-amp my ProAc 2.0s' with 2 stereo VK 60's Can't wait!!!
Running along with:
ARC LS-15
Theta digital (basic+pro prog)
Nakamichi Dr-1

aragon 8008 bb- not really comparable though...It rocks but
really lacks the finesse of the VK 60's....
