I bought the AMP3 about a month ago after having heard a lot of good reviews. I have to say, the sound is excellent, very hard to beat for the price. However, There were 2 problems with it right out of the box: 1)Transformer Hum and 2)cheap speaker bindings. The transformer hum can be fixed by removing the ground prong from the power cord. Not a problem, but I think AudioSh*t, oops AudioSource, should provide a 2 prong cord. As for the speaker bindings, mine came out of the box with the left A and Right B not working at all. I contemplated returning it to J&R, but after listening with the other (working) speaker terminals, I figured for $377 it's worth having it fixed instead of paying the return freight. Plus since Audiosh*t is nearby, it wasn't much of a hassel. Now that it is fixed and broken-in for about a month, it has been a superb performer on my Tympani 1d's. I would recommend this amp based purely on sound quality/price performance. However, if you've got about $200 more in that budget for an amp and would like something more aesthetically pleasing and solidly built, check out the Parasound HCA-1000A (Great Sound & Looks, Solidly built, Lot's of power, plus a 10yr labor/5yr parts warranty). For me however, I'll spend the other $200 on more CD's!!! |

I bought this amplifier because of the great construction and price and what I got was an amplifier that surpassed all of my expectation. It powers both my living room and bedroom speakers with authority and music never sounded so good. I have had the amp for three weeks or so and have noticed little details in the music and movies I watch that I hadn't noticed before. This could be attributed to the amp or the preamp, but never the less they are there. At the same time that I bought the AMP Three I purchased the Pre/Amp Tuner Two and they go together like hand and glove. I especially like the auto-turn on feature, A/B speaker outputs, front panel level controls, and line out jacks for running another amp. If you are looking for a solid performing amp at a decent price, this may be the one for you. (I paid $400 for it at a local discount store and it also has a 2-year manufactures warranty.) |

Strength:
Quality Sound, Powerful and price
Weakness:
none This amplifer is excelent, I only can compare it with my old Sansui and my Old SAE two. The bass is thight and deep; the treble smooth and fine. Doesn't hurt like news amplifer and receivers; in this way it's posible to use equalizer if I want. The price very good in J & R. Similar Products Used: Kenwood, Optimus, Thecnics, Sansui, Onkyo, SAE two |
