Strength:

inexpensive

Weakness:

not real strong

This is a fine sounding amp at mid to lower volumes. For power hungry speakers this may not be your choice. Plenty of options on the rear panel is a plus. For as inexpensive as they are I recommend using them as mono blocks or biamp of speakers as mono blocks. At this point I don't recommend the preamps they sell.

Strength:

Incredible build quality and sound for the price.

Weakness:

At this price, none that I can hear.

Let me first point out that I only "auditioned" these as a "mono-block" pair (as rated @ 250 watts per channel). Still, for $900.retail, for the pair (!, this is a very affordable way to "get into the high-end".

I'm currently using these for the surround sound portion of my system, but one day I decided to hook them up to my two channel rig, just for "Sh*ts & Grins".

No the bass isn't "center-of-the-earth" Krell/Levinson/Classe territory, but these little bad boys can pound out an amazing amount of relatively clean bass for the price. Also, as the phrase goes, their sins are of omission--and this is the best way to go if you can't be perfect. The mids on up are very clean, grain free, and have a surprising amount of detail and "timbre". Imaging, while not as wide and deep as the pricy stuff, is still amazing, again, for this price point.

If you've heard anything strident or harsh with the 2100's, look elsewhere in your system. As inexpensive solids go, these have got to be one of the best--if not THE BEST amps for the money currently available.

Check them out if your looking in this price range, or for that matter, anywhere up to 2k. True to the rating scale, (as the new Pass amps, Classe, Levinson, Krell , etc. are at 5 stars), these come in at a srtong 4 stars.

Picked this amp up with a preamp for around $400 from Sound City. It would probably work out to be about $250 for the amp part. This is a HUGE bargain. I mean if you're still using a receiver for a 2ch stereo system wake up and smell the coffee! $400 to get into quality separates! This amp sounds clean and has more power than I expected. Sure it's no Krell KAV500 but for $250 this is a damn good amp for the beginner audiophile on a budget. It has gold plated 5 way binding posts and a great warranty (someone acidentally blew the amp by shorting the speaker wires while the amp was on and they fixed it under warranty even though it was our fault!). I love AMC stuff for people on a budget .. It has its limitations but 5 stars easily for the money.

Strength:

Lots or power for the money in a very versatile amp.

Weakness:

Too bright sounding for some speakers

I bought this amp about 6 months ago to power a subwoofer that I constructed. I bought the amp and plans for building the sub at www.elegantaudio.com.

As a sub amp the product works great giving me plenty of clean power to run a 15" Lambda driver in a beautiful cabinet that I constructed. I am a happy camper. Before I hooked the amp up to my sub I played around with it on my Klipsch Cornwalls. The amp wasn't a good match. The amp made my bright sounding speakers sound even brighter. However, if you have speakers that aren't horn loaded I think that this amp would be a perfect match. The amp runs stable to 2ohms and is bridgeable. In bridge mode it pumps out 500 watts at 4 ohms. For the money I don't think you could do better in a seperate. I am using a B&K amp for the Klipsch Cornwalls which is a warmer amp and suits my taste better.
