I finally found a store that had both units hooked up so I could do an A/B comparison. First of all, everyone was saying they have the same case. This is not true the DSP-A1 is about one inch taller but layout and display is almost identical. Remotes identical as far as I can tell. 2095 has a tuner, A/B speakers and multiroom functions. DSP-A1 has more digital inputs (3coax,1RF, 5TOS vs 4TOS), more DSP's (39 vs 36 couldn't tell which ones missing)and a digital out. Now for the sound. Both hooked up with all Klipsch speakers and sub. We began with the DVD Lost in Space. Switching between the two units I could not tell any difference with the units in DD 5.1 mode. Tried cinema 70mm on both units. The difference in power was not noticeable and both were equal with clarity. I did not notice any difference in the decoding with my ears. Next, we put in Robert Cray, Yes, George Strait, and Mozart. Once again with music the units sounded almost identical. I am not an aduiophile but have what I would consider an above average ear for detail. I do not think that I could tell them apart if I was blind folded and I bet most people on this board couldn't.
Overall, I came away extremely impressed with RX-V2095. I was planning to purchase the DSP-A1 gold but will now probably get the 2095 and save the $1000.

Well, I did it! Ultimate Electronics here in Idaho as 4 2095's coming in Monday and I bought one along with a Panasonic A110, Monster Interconnects and some 14 gauge Monster speaker wire. I talked them down to $1400 and $350 for the two components, I know mail order is a little less but for the $100-$150 diff. I get a warranty. I may not have the high end equipment some of you do but I am very excited about setting everything up the right way. I currently have a RXV-490, CDC-635, PSB 500's in front, PSB 100 center, PSB Alphas in the rear and a Velodyne 1012 sub. I am also going to be ordering a Sony AC-3 DSS dish and if any of you have advice on setting things up please e-mail me! I'll post my views later this week (taking Wednesday off to set-up) after listening for awhile. I have to give 5 stars to make up for the un-warranted 1 stars. Anyone have opinions on Panasonic A110 vs. A310?

You all people, Teddy has no blame for what he said. Since, he gave his individual opinion. Is that what this site for? In stead, I admire him. I have been thinking to get this product for very long time. So, what I was looking for not only the good side but also the aspect likes from Teddy's. Mostly, when I see people vote it for five, first thing come to my mind that are those people own Yamaha store or get salary from Yamaha? I'm a graduate student, which my budget is very limited. $1500 is as worth as my three months work. Surely, I don't want to make a mistake. To Teddy, I hope you don't let Yamaha's people make you down. GO TEDDY
We are as customer on your side.

I agree with Kent. I think Teddy can justify his word "suck" more than three pages. However, it's not what we are looking for. This word has it own meaning. You are my hero who speaks the true, Teddy.

Buzz, Buzz, Buzz.damn, there is a pesty bug fling around here.

Hey, in all the reviews I read on the 2095, the only person who actually supplied us with useful info was GDS. It is obvious that this guy has extensive knowledge about audio gear. Try emailing him and you will be surprised. He recommended me a whole system for Home theater. Not only did he save me tons of money, but he pointed me in theright direction. My hats off to you GDS. As always, there will be people that fear the unknown. They fear you because ofyour extensive knowledge with regards to audio.
In any event, I am glad there are people like you on here to educate those who are in need of it.

Thanks my friend !!!

GDS, Where did you get your information from? First off All Yamaha Amps work in Class B Formation. You cannot have a Amplifier thats Class A and A/B. Yamaha has been working with DSP for 11 years not 20. Yamaha Amplifiers use Copper Transistors with Push/Pull Drive System.

Teddy,
No offense but i'm suspecting that you haven't listened to the RX-V2095. I listened to it and frankly, all the complaints you have sound more like hatred than opinion. People have their own taste but Yamaha, Denon, and Onkyo are the leading manufacturers in the Hi-Fi business (not including Sony who sells based on availability and price). Yamaha has gotten many awards for their products and if you do listen to one of them, you'll agree. Maybe you can't afford $1599 for a receiver, fine but don't go around acting stubborn. And to GDS, everyone has right to their own opinion, that is why people live in this country of ours called America. If someone says "Hey I don't like you" you shouldn't hold it against them. Obviously Teddy is somewhere around 14-16 so just ignore him.

Uncle Stereo is a mail-order company who gets their products from Switzerland. They will get their products sometime in Mid-November. One Call doesn't sell the RX-V Line by mail only the R-V (which is the only authorized line) which doesn't include the RX-V2095. Most places you'll find the 1998 Product Line is in your local Hi-Fi Shop.

Boys and girls... enough with the miss information! I physically had my hands on a Yamaha 2095 yesterday. It was at my local store in Gaithersburg MD.
So stop with the it has not shipped...

Lets get some reviews of the actual preformance.

Isn't that the point of this site.

To all: I am sorry I am posting this with out a review. I just thought it was time for someone to point out the facts.

My questions is where anyone has purchased this? The local retailers are quoting 2-3 weeks, and I called mail order companies (Uncle Stereo, OneCall, HiFi Direct, etc..) and they all are waiting. If these reviews are based on actually listening to the 2095 please tell me where you bought it so I can order one.

Just to let you guys know, Yamaha has NOT shiped any new units. All you have to do is call Yamaha of America. So all the "reviews" are crap.
