Had this receiver back a few years ago and traded it in on my Yamaha. But, I found another one at a pawn shop and picked it up right away for my home studio. This unit has always been a solid performer with a good amount of power and lots of features. Spectrum analyzer, as someone below has said, is fun to watch and does serve a purpose. Only 3 minor gripes about this unit:
1. Damping factor on the amplifier section could be better. My Yamaha does a much better job at controlling woofer movement. Therefore, you cannot use this receiver to its fullest potnetial.

2. The heat problem: Many who have owned this receiver have noted that this thing bakes when it is putting out less than 5 watts/channel. I say 5 watts because the fan kicks on when the output power goes above 5 watts/channel. After the fan kicks on and stays on, the unit cools down quickly.

3. The fan: If the unit is in a well-ventilated area, one can hear the fan kick on and off. This, at times, can detract from the receiver's sound and performance.

Other than these minor little gripes, this receiver has been one of the best that I've owned. I plan on keeping mine for as long as I can.

I bought this receiver some time ago for my bedroom when i was stil living at home. It has come with me now i have a proper Home theater set up in my Living Room and its performed really well for a £300 receiver. I've Just Bought some Bose AM10's to go with it and they are starting to show up the shortfalls of the receiver. I am considering upgrading to possibly a yamaha DSP A2 - but maybe not for a while. I have great respect for the whole Matsushita Company - they put out some great products (although, admittidly a couple of crap ones as well!) at a price most people can afford. By the way - contrary to oters opinions on the am10's - i love them and they don't steal half the floorspace!

This was a replacement for a Technics SA-EX100 I traded with my father for his SA-GX505. The 505 was going to go to his cottage and only get use on the weekends. I felt it deserved better than that. It is now powering a pair of BOSE301 series 4 speakers, a pair of Cerwin Vega AT-15 speakers and adding to the mix a Technics ASW40 Subwoofer.
