Strength:
More than enough power for most purposes
Weakness:
No LED on the Volume knob One of the main reason for buying the Technics was the great price compared to the competition. On the SA market, nothing comes close. Similar Products Used: Technics, Sony & Philips midi systems owned |

I have model SA-AX730 5x100w amplifier. And I'm very happy. Voice of this amplifier is quite soft and warm. And I believe that it will get better after I get new speakers. I have home made subwoofer which helps little bit. I give four stars because this amplifier dont have optical input. But what you can get with 340$. This amp. gives you pleasure.(price is european) |

Sorry I switched my value and overall ratings in my previous review. (See below) After I thought about it I could only give it 1 star for overall. I couldn't imagine it being designed much more cheaply. But the price is low. I really wouldn't buy the 930 unless it was all I could afford and I had to have DTS. Oh Justin, I don't know where you heard that speaker settings don't change with the mode on Sony ES recievers but I own one and they do. In fact every reciever I've used does. If you had ever seen an ES reciever you wouldn't have given this thing a 4 star rating. (had to get that out of my system). Any way sorry about the mix up. Aaron |

Casual Listener
Strength:
Price - $299.99 in OR, features, ease of setup, sound, ease of use after you get the hang of how to operate the remote. I can't complain about the system at all. I have been very impressed with everything about it since the very first time I turned it on.
Weakness:
I haven't found any yet. I didn't appreciate having to buy the Monster Cable Powered Subwoofer connecting cable, but the system sounds great with that extra speaker - a lot better than it does without it. Some of the reviews made me think Consumer Reports might have made a mistake. I read it before I purchased the 930. I would like to believe that I took more care in the setup and placement of my receiver and I won't have the same problems that some others have experienced. Or I just don't ploay it as loud as others of you do. Similar Products Used: Upgraded from a 17 year old Onkyo receiver. |

Casual Listener
Strength:
Good sound quality, ease of use, price.
Weakness:
Control needs work. I have listened to many dolby digital, dts capable recievers and this unit had the best price for its performance. It has everthing the casual listener would need. The remote does not have very many buttons but is one of the easiest remotes I have ever used. I just wish the buttons were a little larger as I find it hard sometimes to change stations with the little buttons. The Sound in the dolby digital and dts formats are very good greatly improving over prologic. I have not experienced a single problem with overheating as many people have stated. Proper ventilation may be all you need as the only ventilation on the sa-dx930 is on the top and it is not very large either. Just keep the ventilation on the top free from any obstruction and the unit will run fine. I leave it on overnight when I go to sleep and wake up with it still on with no problem. Technics makes good products and this unit is consistent with thier work. Great features at a price that can't be beat. Similar Products Used: kenwood, sony, aiwa. |

Strength:
Great Sound, DTS/DD Decoders
Weakness:
Major Heat Issues, Remote So far so good. I haven't had any heat problems with my unit yet *cross fingers*. That said, I do notice that it gets VERY hot with normal use and it was a STUPID decision to have the fan turn on only when the volume is cranked high! Who's dumb idea was that??? Other than the heat issue, this reciever is FANTASTIC! If you feel lucky, then try this player out. It can be found for REAL cheap at Best Buy. I got it for $179 (open box)! If you can find it for below $250 then I would immediatly grab it! Similar Products Used: AWIA AV-D35 |

Strength:
Price to feature ratio, solid stereo sound (.05% THD).
Weakness:
Need to keep in ventilated area, remote has a few limitations, high THD in surround modes (.8%). To start off with, I believe it must be said that this is a bargain for the dollar. As far as the features to price ratio, I give good reviews. Similar Products Used: First receiver. |
