Strength:

powerfull enough for a casual home theater
great remote responce
exalent sound quallity
stays cool running ALL day
best for price

Weakness:

bass drops after 50
Auto callibration sets suround volume below my prefrence. easy fix

I started years ago with a $25 2.1 system from wallmart. my millionare aunt
was upgrading her home theater to a 7.1 and gave me her 6.1. i loved the upgrade and bought anouther. soon my friend built "the ulltimate home theater"
wich was 7.1. I of course could not give him all the braging rights!!!!
so i began searching and settled on the DG800. Best buy i have ever made!

sure it lacks power, but i can hear it far outside the house, with crap speakers!
I have never wached a movie above 50 out of 75 on the volume. i have however
got it u to sixty. the jump from 50 to 60 is a miracle! the only down side is that the bass from the sub dooesnt increase after 50 making the bass die.
hopefully its my sub.

I lost braging rights as far as sound goes, however considering price i beat my friend!!!!!!!!!!

saddly his system can easily go over 120 decibles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lowder then a jet!!!!!!!.

my system, only 90ish

If you dont like this this system, there is a cheaper pioneer to consider , wich i
have heard is better.

Well all, I have written many user reviews on here you can prolly find alot of them in the Definitive speakers sections for the Pro Monitor 200s and Studio Monitor 450s.

I have the follwoing system aside the STR-DG800

Viewsonic N3260w LCD-TV
Sony DVP-CX995V
HTPC
Definitive BP7006
Pro Monitor 200s (3 for surrounds)
DIY Center Channel
DIY Sub

This is my 2nd Sony in a decade that I've owner and time and time agian I am impressed. I took some time way to try Yamaha (RX-V1300) which died on my a week ago.

Sony's STR-DG800 seemed like a good candidate to replace it with. Thus far I am happy and love the new quality og Pro Logic IIx and other enhancements in bass management.

So far I give this unit

Build 3.5/5
Quality 4/5
Reliability 4/5
