I purchased mine for the basement gameroom. I purchased it cheap from a guy off of epay. He claimed to have the original remote. When i received it, I was happy with the condition of the unit, but...the remote was incorrect. It was a nice sony universal remote, but it would not work with the 'visiontouch" system. Well, a few months ago, i finally found the correct remote on epay, and it made all the difference in the world.

Sadlly, a week or so back, my old trusty Marantz sr-19 lost it's voice, so I decided to dig the sony out of the basement and bring it upstairs as a cheap replacement until I find something to replace the Marantz, which was a great receiver in itself. Well, I finished swapping them out yesterday, and wow! The old sony could hold it's own vs the sr-19, which was twice the price when they were new. Really good 5.1 sound. I wish it would do DTS, and I wish it had pre-amp out / main in jacks so I could run an equalizer through it. it does have pre outs, but no main in's..what's up with that?

Overall, the osd operation is a bit troublesome, but if you get it set up correctly, it still sounds great, and even has a nice tuner section.

If you can find one with the correct remote, buy it! TD

One of the best receivers Sony has built. Don't be fooled by the year it was made, there are very few improvement by later models. The ES is the hi end line. The sound quality is superior and this unit has served well for over 10 years. I may get a second newer model for other rooms. But I will never part with this old reliable and well built unit.

Very High-End best receiver SONY STR-DA90ESG DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING for Year 1997. I believed you can't find it any internet market place or retail store today! Really good and amazing sound quality. Do not think twice if you get a chance to buy! I bought alot of amplifier/stereo receiver in my life. But I have never seen like this quality sound processor before.
